It had been a month since everything happened. I was standing on the edge of a rooftop in my suit. My mask was pulled up to my nose as I ate a sandwich. I watched as Gwen walked down the street to meet friends in a coffee shop. I had been watching her to keep her safe, and it's the closest I can be without being with her. A cop car drove past and I jumped off the building, swinging after it into central park. When I got there I saw a giant sand monster. "What the hell?" I asked. "It's Spiderman!" A civilian yelled. "Get out of here!" I screamed at them. The sand collided with me and I fell off the lamp post. When I hit the ground I quickly recovered. How do I even take down a sand monster? I can't turn it into glass without the risk of burning down other buildings or the greenery here. Water could flood the surrounding areas which would not be good for the sewers, then again we've had some heavy storms in NYC.
My spider sense went off and I saw a man frozen as Sandman was about to crush him. I swung over and pulled him out of the way before he was killed. I webbed up the blueprints he dropped and handed them to him. "Hi Max," I said, reading his name tag and straightening his glasses. "You know my name." He mumbled. "It's on your name tag. Look, have a good day, stay out of trouble." I told him and webbed to a different spot.
I turned my attention back to the fight. I was in a bad spot, I was cornered. The monster hit me again and I flew into a wall made from sand. I fell into the sand on the ground. It was in my suit already. I had to hold him off until first responders got here which hopefully would come with a firetruck. The sandman collapsed into his human form. "Flint Marko." I realised. I'd seen him in the NYPD database when I looked through the murderers and big time criminals.
I heard sirens. Cops and firefighters were here. "Hose him down." I yelled, another blow from the sandman hit me and I flew into a brick wall. I fell and almost got hit by traffic. I saw the firefighters hose him down, he started to crumple as the water soaked through him.
But eventually Marko rebuilt himself. I was standing among the officers. I looked right and saw a man. I thought he was George Stacy and I stared at him. I blinked and it was a random officer. I got angry about George's death. I webbed forward and punched Sandman. My fists burned and he suddenly stiffened. He fell back, still glass. The grass had managed to pad the fall enough.
I looked down at my hands. They were still sparking with electricity. An officer walked up to me. "Hey Spiderman, look." He said. He showed me a watch with my mask on it. "Gift from the kid. I want you to know that no matter what others think, officer James Trinkle is with you." He said. "Thank you." I replied. My phone went off and I pulled it from my suit. It was a reminder for graduation. "If you'll excuse me, I have to collect a sheet of paper." I said and swung away.
I changed and walked on stage the second my name was called. I took my diploma and high fived people as I walked by. I stopped at Gwen and kissed her. "I'm sorry." I said, I finally high fived the Principle as I walked off stage.
After graduation, I met up with Gwen. "I'm sorry. I can't. I can't stand not being close to you, Gwen. And I'm sorry, the last thing I should have put you through was my drama, especially with your dad. I should have been there for you, and I'm a douchebag. Please forgive me." I ranted. "I forgive you." Gwen said. I hugged her, collapsing into her embrace. "I guess we're even. A breakup and the death of someone close." Gwen joked about it.
I looked at her. "You don't have to joke about it, okay? It's okay for you to be sad about it, I was." I started. "Gwen! Pictures!" Helena yelled. "Do you want to meet us next Saturday for dinner? My grandparents are in town, they wanted to meet you. It's your second chance." Gwen explained. "Yeah, I'll be there." I said. "Gwen!" Helena yelled. Gwen walked over there. I looked around, expecting my mother, or Peter to be here.
I saw Luke across the field, talking with his parents. He caught my gaze and looked at me awkwardly for a second before looking away. "Great." I sighed.
I was alone again. I looked back at Gwen and saw her dad standing behind her and Gwen's family. He was wearing a white police shirt and looked at me, like a disapproving father. A person walked past, blocking my view. When they passed, so was George.
I spent the day patrolling. I've graduated now, and I never thought of going to college. Not like I could get in anywhere. I barely graduated as it is. I sat on a rooftop, looking at the city. It started to rain, but I kept sitting there. My phone rang and I pulled it out, I saw an unknown caller ID. "Hello?" I asked. "Y/N L/N, I'm Nick Fury. I have a proposition for you." He said, I hung up the phone and stuffed it back. I heard sirens and stood up, chasing them.
