I was at dinner with Gwen and her mom. "Thank you for letting me stay a few nights, Helen. I should be out of your hair soon, I just need to handle a few things." I said. "It's no worry. And thank you. I've seen what you're up against, and I'm rooting for you." Helen said. "Thank you." I said, not really feeling confident in her affirmations.

My spider sense went off, police sirens raced through the streets. "I have to go. Stay here Gwen." I walked to the window and my suit formed on my body. "Thanks for dinner." I jumped and followed the police cars. The two animals of the group, Lizard and the new guy, Rhino. "The break in." I realised. "It was a breakout." "Spider!" He saw me, and I jumped onto the street level. Cops surrounded the scene, setting a perimeter.

I looked down at Rhino, Lizard was busy inside the bank. "Come at me, bro." "Rahh, I'll kill you, spider!" Rhino charged and I jumped up, dodging over his shoulder. I did my slingshot kick at his face while he recovered. I punched him again, he charged and knocked me into the side of a building. I stuck on the wall and jumped off the side, mounting Rhino, using webs like reigns.

He began to run blindly. He charged into the bank. "No, not there, or there." He was yelling at me while I was literally trying not to die. We burst through another wall and I saw my opportunity. I found a solid concrete wall in an alley and steered us towards it. I bailed before he took me with him while he crashed.

My senses went off and Lizard bashed me with his tail. "Oh, not again." I groaned as I got up. I dodged the next strike and ended up in between Lizard and Rhino. I closed my eyes, waiting for what was gonna happen if I did this right. At the exact right moment, I jumped into the air, causing the two to collide. I let out my energy surge, and when my fists hit the ground, a shockwave of energy released, knocking the two out.

I stood up, falling back when I became weak. A swat team surrounded me, rifles aimed. I slowly stood up. The new captain walked towards me. "Come on, L/n. It's over. You need to come with us." He said. I pulled off my mask. "I can't do that sir." "Then we'll have to do this the hard way." He replied, grabbing his cuffs. "You don't understand. There's still work I have to do. These villains are still out there. Electro, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman. Rhino and Lizard are just two of them. There is a whole... sinister six." I ranted.

He laughed. "What?" I asked. "Sinister six, ha. That's funny. Come on, L/n. Let's go." I looked him dead in the eye. "You don't believe me..." I put my mask back on. "Don't do it, son." The captain ordered me. "George Stacy would be ashamed of how you've continued his legacy." I started to swing away, the Swat team fired at me. I was hit in the leg by a bullet. I fell on a rooftop. I saw in the distance Rhino and Lizard fleeing. I forced myself to keep going and I ran across the rooftop and dived off the edge.

I swung after them, but my leg was in so much pain. I watched them gain more and more distance until they were gone. I stopped on a roof, I had an idea where to go so I went to Luke's old lab. I started to do first aid, removing the bullet and patching it up. "I knew you'd come eventually." Luke walked into the light. He looked worse than ever, he had more green scales, and he looked like a corpse. "Am I talking to my friend or my enemy?"

"I'm sorry, Y/n. I-this disease is corrupting me. I want it to stop, but I'm in so much pain. I need your help."
"You know I can't give you my blood."
"I need it!"

He banged his fist on the metal table. "I'm sorry. You know how it feels to be so angry." He mentioned. "Luke, I want to. But I can't. There's too many variables." Luke pushed a table over, grabbing me by the throat. "I don't want to have to hurt you." I said. "But that's the thing, I have to hurt you." Luke took out an orange ball, he hit a button and two blades stuck out from the sides like wings. I put my mask on, ready for this fight.

He swung them down on me and I blocked, but he continued to press against my hands. "If you won't give me what I want, I'll take it!" Luke put more of his weight onto this. I kicked Luke back, he stood at a safe distance away in the warehouse he called his lab. "Y/n, why can't you help me?" He asked. "Because, I don't know what will happen. And I can't be the reason anyone else I love gets hurt." I admitted.

Suddenly his glider burst through the wall, it flew rampant around the facility, bashing into concrete, hitting almost everything but me. "Missed." I said, "Oh, friend. You should know by now I don't miss." He smiled wickedly at me, his glider returned to him and he floated into the air. "Sayonara." He threw one of his devices at the ceiling and it exploded. In the split second before it did I realised he took out the supports of the building with the glider. And the roof caved in, me still under it.

When I came to my senses I felt heavy weights on my back. Between the dust and the rubble I couldn't breathe. I took off my mask to try to breathe. I tried to lift the rocks, but I couldn't. I was trapped. I can't believe my best friend did this to me. "Help!" I yelled. My old claustrophobia kicked in. I couldn't breathe. Panic filled my body and I started to squirm, but I couldn't move.

I felt tears burn into my face, and I heard water leaking into the ground. "Help!" I screamed, "I'm down here!" But nobody came. I screamed for help again. I thought I heard something. "Help, under here! Help, please!" I sobbed. My nose began to run. "Gwen!" I yelled. "Gwen, please help me." She never came. I let out a scream, a scream that echoed through the room and broke my soul. All I could feel was the cold void of death awaiting me. I finally stopped screaming.

I saw my reflection in the water. "Give up, we've been fighting for so long. What do we have to live for anymore?" My reflection asked me. "We're just kids. We shouldn't have to do this." "But it's still your responsibility." Another voice said. I saw Peter in the reflection, looking over my shoulder.

"It's your responsibility, Y/N. And you have to finish what you started."
"I can't. I don't deserve to, after Venom. I hurt the people closest to me. I'm poison."
"I know how you feel."
"How?"
"My uncle Ben, I told you he died. But not how. It was my fault."
"What?"
"I ran away from home. Me and Uncle Ben were in a fight, and he chased after me. There was a thief, and I let him get away, but Uncle Ben tried. And the thief shot him. It was my fault Uncle Ben died. And I hurt Aunt May, and Mary Jane. And I let my best friend, Harry, die, too after he turned on me. I didn't deserve to go through all of that, it wasn't fair. But it was my responsibility. Because with great power comes great responsibility. You have the power to end this, Y/N. I know you do, just like I know you'll be better than I ever was."
"No, I can't. I can't do this."
"You can."
"I can't!"
"You can!"
"No, I should die here. I'm poison. I failed Mr. Stacy. I failed Gwen, I failed Luke, I failed you."
"And I forgive you. You made sure I didn't die in vain. You're not poison, you're the best person I've ever met. Because if you didn't have a heart, you wouldn't feel guilty. You are amazing. I see this spark in you, and it's amazing. You can do this, go save your friend. And remember, I love you."

Peter's image faded. "No, wait!" I saw my own reflection. "Come on Spiderman, you can do this." I put my hands on the ground and pushed myself up. "Come on, Spiderman." I was crouching now, the weight of all the concrete on my back now. I felt my knees about to buckle. I looked back at my face in the water. "Come on, Spiderman!" I pressed up as hard as I could, using every muscle in my body.

A scream left my body as I stood up. I felt a warmth in my heart. It spread throughout my chest and moved to my arms and legs. I felt the lighting circle my limbs. I pushed with one last scream and the concrete went flying.

I collapsed back to my knees. I saw my mask near my hand and picked it up. I took it and stood up. I looked at the eyes. "Come on, Spiderman." I put the mask on and I felt the lightning in me again. I was ready to face the monster I created. It was my responsibility. There's no other option. I'm ending this.

Gwen POV

I was studying in my room, home alone, when I felt a pang in my chest. Something was severely wrong. My spidey senses lit up, too. "Y/n..." I got up and walked to the window. I jumped out, swinging to a rooftop. I focused hard, trying to sense where he was somehow.

My senses went mute. "Come on!" I yelled in frustration. "You can't be gone." I whispered. "Where are you?" It was a long silence. Minutes, hours, I searched the city trying to find him.

I had given up, I was crying on a rooftop. My spidey senses got a faint tingle. I perked up. "Thank god." I sighed. I walked to the edge of the roof when my spider senses panicked, too much to handle and make out. I covered my ears, screaming in pain. I fell, an explosion went off in the distance.
