I returned to my base, AKA where I've been living. I laid Gwen down on the old mattress I put on the floor, a blanket in between them. I sat at my desk, watching Gwen sleep.

It was the first time in a while she's slept so peacefully, not worried about the city, or her dad, or me even. She deserved a break. My phone rang, Gwen's mother calling. "Hey, Y/n, have you seen Gwen lately? I haven't been able to contact her." Helen said. "Yeah, she's with me. She's been a bit under the weather, didn't want to get you sick while you're dealing with the boys, trying to find a new apartment…"

When I hung up, I laid down next to Gwen, pulling her close. I kissed her on the forehead, her arms wrapping around me instinctively. We fell asleep like that.

When I woke up it was cold. Even with Gwen so close, with both of us wearing our suits under the quilt. I looked out the window, and it was snowing. I webbed the curtains shut and snuggled back into Gwen.

Gwen POV

I woke up to see Y/n cuddling me, his lips kissing my forehead in his sleep. The last thing I remember was asking that doctor to leave, and it was a blurry memory. I know Luke kidnapped me, took my blood and tortured me, but that's all. I honestly didn't know if I was dreaming, and I didn't want to leave either way, especially with how cold it was.

When Y/n finally woke up he smiled at me. "Are you ok?" He asked. "What happened?" "I'll tell you later, let's enjoy this moment." Y/n said, he searched my face, smiling. "Oh shit." I realized. "What?" "My mom is gonna be worried sick." I stood up, putting on the jeans that were on the floor. "Hey, those are my last pair." Y/n said. "Wear sweatpants." I told him, grabbing one of his hoodies, too, rushing out the door.

Y/n POV

The next few weeks were the happiest I've ever been. I got my name cleared, my apartment back, and me and Gwen have been happier than ever. It was Christmas today, and I was at Helen's party in their house. I was talking to Hale. "Thanks again for what you did, Y/n." Hale told me. "With great power comes great responsibility." "And you fulfilled that. Thank you." He told me.

In the corner of my eye I saw Gwen struggling to hang mistletoe up on the ceiling. She was okay, but her powers were still recovering. "Excuse me, Captain." I said, walking over. I took the mistletoe from her and hung it up. "Have you heard of this tradi-" I cut her off by kissing her, grabbing her neck, pulling her close. The few inches between us were still too much.

We pulled away for air. "Will you marry me?" I asked. "I already answered that. Yes." Gwen smiled, kissing me again. And dear god it couldn't have gotten better. For the first time in my life I was truly happy, she made me happy. She was my light, my guide, my world, my everything. She was my fiance, and soon my wife, maybe even the mother of our child. But most importantly…

She was mine.
