Moonhee was a fool for thinking she could be loved.

She was a fool for thinking she could change his mind by inviting him here. It was stupid to believe she even had a chance. He didn't agree to it because he wanted her back. Hell, it was just another fucking lie she merely convinced herself to believe. There wasn't anything to salvage— there never was.

Fuck, she should have said more, fought for him more. There was so much she wanted to say, things she didn't even know she wanted to say. She couldn't just let him toss every single moment they had together aside like it meant nothing. It meant something, right? It had to.

But she was too late.

She couldn't really believe her eyes when she saw him and her brother standing right in front of her. Despite being surrounded by an entire audience, she felt like the massive gallery around them shrank into a small box, trapping the three of them inside.

Moonhee held her breath, unable to process that her brother was standing in front of her again. A lot of time has passed since she last saw him, but nothing really changed about him. He was still the shadow that followed her around, serving as a relentless reminder of a reality she couldn't dare forget about.

His calm demeanor was a facade. It had to be. The last time Jeongguk was in a room with this many people, it didn't end so well.

But in this moment, it seemed as though his entire focus was on Taehyung. Nothing else mattered except him, and the thought of that crushed her.

Nothing would have changed if she stopped Taehyung from leaving.

Just by how he looked at Jeongguk, it was as if someone breathed life into him again. It was as if he found his purpose; his meaning.

Moonhee knew she was just too late as she watched Jeongguk whisk Taehyung away from her once more. She could feel her soul splintering inside of her.

It hurt a lot worse to see who Taehyung would choose with her very own eyes.

It wasn't her. It would never be her.

As she snapped back into reality, she realized everyone was staring at her. She swallowed thickly, panic rising up her throat as whispers began to flood the room. Her eyes anxiously darted around to see that all of their gazes were fixed on her. Were they judging her? No. It was more like pity.

They were no longer interested in the art but moreso in the tragedy that unfolded right before them; it didn't take an idiot to understand that. And of course, they pitied her. Everyone always fucking pitied her.
