The rest of the school year was not as bad as Xiao Zhan expected it to be. After that day, he and Darren had gotten closer.

Actually, Darren didn't mean to embarrass him in presence of the whole year group, it just turned out that a lot of people had their attention on Xiao Zhan at that time and heard what Darren said. Darren regretted it almost immediately but he couldn't find Xiao Zhan anywhere to apologise hence he showed up at his house that day and for the first time, other than Wang Yibo, Xiao Zhan welcomed another friend.

Darren moved to Yibo's old seat, right next to Xiao Zhan and Zhan from that day on, had a new friend to talk to. It took him some time to open up to Darren but he soon found out that his personality and his were quite matched, he just had a brute outward look.

Their parents tried their hardest to help both Xiao Zhan and Yibo resolve their differences but what could they do when both boys claimed they were fine? They simply sat back, watching them sort things out on their own. There really was nothing more they could do.

Xiao Zhan had thought the whole school would buzz with Yibo and Yang Zi's relationship but after that day, he hardly heard about them. Really, news needed to be fueled and since neither party had given room for gossip, the talks soon died down.

Soon, their high school was over and as expected, Yang Zi scored the highest in the year group. Xiao Zhan was the third highest and Darren barely managed to secure the 10th position, surpassing number 11 with only a quarter of a mark. Xiao Zhan had indeed been a good influence. As for the rest of the list, people mostly remembered the top 10 only.

"A-Zhan, come and take a picture with us". Darren's mother called him over. Since her son started moving with Xiao Zhan, she had noticed a change in his academic performance. She held Xiao Zhan in such a high degree in her heart.

After the ceremony, different groups met to take pictures. Xiao Zhan's feelings were conflicted. He didn't know whether to say something to Wang Yibo or continue to give him his space like he requested all those months ago.

Also, he saw Yang Zi in the corner. He could tell she wanted to come over but couldn't bring herself to do so. On a normal day, he would make things easier for her and initiate a conversation but too much had happened. It was best to let her be.

"Come let's take a picture together", Wang Lu pulled Xiao Zhan to her left while holding Yibo on her right hand side. Xiao Li joined them and both families took a series of photos. The mothers seemed more interested in the pictures than their children.

"Let's all have dinner tomorrow night to celebrate both boys. Our A-Zhan came number 3 in the whole school while Yibo was at number 13. This should be celebrated. I haven't cooked in years but I'd do so tomorrow".

With the change in schools and the roller coaster of emotions, Wang Lu hadn't expected Yibo to perform so well hence her joyous mood.

"You'd cook? Ah, we can't miss it for the world". Back in the day, Wang Lu used to be a very good cook but once she moved to another country, there was little or no time to cook so she barely cooked these days.

"Ma...Darren and I have something to do tomorrow evening". Actually, what they had wasn't important but Xiao Zhan felt it was better to decline politely.

"Darren can come for dinner too. Your aunt Lu is going to cook, trust me, you don't want to miss this". Xiao Li tried to convince Xiao Zhan. She was looking forward to this meal.

"If you're busy tomorrow, how about tonight? We can go to that restaurant down the road, it's your favourite". Xiao Zhan was silent for a moment as he didn't expect Yibo to be interested in having a meal with him. Right now, he felt a certain way in his heart, he couldn't put his feelings into words.
