Ashton and Calum

"ASHTON!" Calum yells for the third time as he vigorously shakes Ashton's limp body.

"What?" Ashton grumbles, lifting his head from his pillow and squints at Calum in only his underwear.

"Dude I thought you were dead," Calum huffs, flopping at the bottom of his bed with his hand over his heart. "What the fuck happened last night?"

Ashton lies back on his pillow, squeezing his eyes shut as he rests his palm on his forehead, thinking way harder than he should. He's been hung-over before, many times over, days on end, but he's never felt this shitty. He rubs his temples as he tries to think, concluding there was at least a party.

"What party did we go to again?"

"I don't know, man," Calum says, staring at the ceiling as he rubs his head, too. "Wait didn't I drive somewhere?"

"Yeah," Ashton opens his eyes and stares ahead at the ceiling too. "And you popped my fucking tire."

"That's right! And we changed it."

"Right. And then what?"

"I don't know. We must have went to the party."

"That's for fucking sure. What the fuck did we take?"

"Ashton I really don't know. I don't remember. I remember helping you change the tire, holding the light, and I think I remember looking at something out in a field. Shit I don't know. But that's it. That's all I remember. I don't remember getting to a party or how we even got there."

"Fuck, me neither," Ashton states, rubbing his temples with closed eyes again. "Shit."

"Deadset," Calum grumbles before he sits up. "I'm fucking hungry though. Like I could eat my whole body weight in food."

"Me too," Ashton yawns. "What time is it?"

"Mate, its 3pm."

"3PM! What the fuck," Ashton looks over at the clock, perplexed.

"Yeah, what the fuck," Calum agrees. "I'm gonna go eat. My stomach is hurting."

Ashton's stomach gurgles just as Calum stands and they laugh before Ashton joins Calum and they head to the kitchen together. They both grab a water from the fridge and skull it, feeling parched along with their sever hunger. They scour the pantires before Ashton finds eggs in the fridge, emptying the whole 18 pack carton into a pan for scrambled eggs.

"I'll make us some toast," Calum chirps as he grabs the loaf of bread and adds four at a time to the toaster.

Once the bread pops, Calum adds four more slices and then lathers butter and Vegemite to the four cooked ones. He hands one to Ashton to eat while he cooks the carton of eggs, the smell of the cooking protein making his mouth salivate. Grateful for the toast Ashton bites into it, smiling at the familiar homey flavor in the yeasty spread as the butter melts over his tongue.

Ashton freezes, his mind running before he turns to Calum, "Do you remember drinking something weird last night?"

"Yes!" Calum turns to him, "And I remember we almost got into an accident? Does that sound familiar?"

"Yeah you popped my tire. I told you that already," Ashton turns back to the eggs.

"No you were driving. I remember telling you to watch out," Calum corrects him while bringing him another piece of bread.

"No. But I do remember sitting on a really nice leather couch."

"Yeah," Calum nods as he leans against the counter and eats another toast, "I remember that too."
