"Why didn't the Kiss break the Blood Bond," Michael taps his head, papers scattered about with notes and theories.

"Why do you keep fixating on that? Their Bond isn't going to change anything," Calum rubs his face, exhausted from the brainpower required to figure out a solution.

"No, I agree," Veronica says, shuffling through the notes and ideas. "What did JD tell you again?"

"Not much," Luke yawns, looking through the papers as well, "Just that one had to kill the other."

"Which she did technically kill him to turn him into a Fledgling, right?" Michael asks, looking at Veronica.

"Yes," she nods, "but he wasn't affected in the same way humans are either."

"How so?" Michael asks.

"Human's pass out when they overdose on Vampyre blood, but Ashton didn't."

"Do you think that's because of their bond?" Calum asks, "We both passed out that first night."

"That's right," Veronica looks at him, "And that wasn't her blood he consumed."

"So her blood protected him?" Luke questions, writing it down.

"That's possible," Veronica nods.

"Could his blood protect her?" Michael inquires, his brain churning.

"From what exactly?" Veronica counters.

"Killing Neb," Michael states.

"Possibly. But that wouldn't save me," she mentions.

"Maybe his blood could save you, though" Luke wonders, "It's not a Blood Bond you share but you are both from the same Sire."

"It might not even be a true Blood Bond," Michael suggests, "Maybe its just Ashton in general."

"We can't risk both of their lives on things unknown," Calum barks, glaring them down.

"I would be willing to risk that," Veronica surprises everyone, "But I'm only willing to do so when you come up with a plan to capture Neb."

"What no," Calum turns to her, "you can't risk your life."

"You don't get to tell me what to do," she stares him down, "Ashton isn't going to suck Claire dry. He won't kill her to be human. So it's their lives one hundred percent gone or a risk for ours. Neb is a violent creature that needs wiped out, along with his minions. Killing him and all of his Sired is a service to humanity. Not that I care too much, but our two lives are worth the lives we would be saving from a tormented death or worse, his Siring."

"I'm not going to risk your life," Calum firmly grabs her wrist, his strength still a marvel to her.

"You won't be. I will," she tries to yank her arm away but can't.

"And I will," Ashton sounds from the kitchen entrance, his face solemn as Claire stands next to him with tears in her eyes.

"She's right though," Claire chokes, "The risk is worth it."

Ashton shakes his head before Luke clicks his pen, "Tell us everything about this Neb. Where is he located? How many in his Coven?"

"Nest," Veronica corrects, "Ferrals live in nests."

"Okay," Luke writes.

"And he lives where we found you guys that second time," Veronica points to Ashton and Calum, "Near those abandoned shacks."

"No way," Calum jumps up looking between the Vampyress's, disturbed.

"Yes," Veronica nods.

"We were stopped out there for a long time to change a tire," Calum shares.
