Calum and Veronica

"He's awake," Veronica states as she enters into the living room where the guys are lounging on the large leather sectional. Calum's eyes connect with hers as he leans forward and she nods before whispering, "He is."

"A Fledging?" Michael asks.

"Yes," Veronica nods.

"How do we Change him back?" Calum stands up, panicked.

"You can't, Calum," Veronica shakes her head, "He either stays in this form or becomes a Vampyre."

"Or he dies," Michael adds.

"He dies as a Vampyre or Fledgling too!" Calum roars.

"Unless we figure out how to remove the Vampyre half," Luke says trying to help, "let me call JD."

"JD?" Calum turns, looking at Michael, "From school?"

"Yeah," Michael shrugs.

"You called him?"

"Well sorry I couldn't talk to you about your secret drug addiction," Michael yells at Calum, receiving a glare before he continues, "Besides, regardless of your current involvement, this isn't your expertise. He's been reading Lore and comics since he was like three."

"You think he knows more than an actual Vampyre!" Calum mocks him and gestures to Veronica.

"He's not wrong, Calum," Veronica shrugs. "I only know what's shared with me by being within the Covens I have lived. It's not like we go to Vampyre University and learn everything there is to know. Its obvious there's much unknown to us because of the factors at play with each individual. I didn't believe Blood Bonds were real and they evidently are," she gestures to the stairs that leads to the bound lovers.

"What?" Calum looks at her shocked, her calculated knowledge and reasoning suddenly gone and he begins to lose hope that she can save his friend.

"Vampyrism defies science so only so much can make clear sense," Luke states, surprising them all as he doodles in a notebook Calum's never seen before.

"Exactly," Veronica smiles her pointed teeth at Luke before she looks at Calum, "I'm understanding I don't know everything. What makes two people bound? Was this their fate? Is it destiny? Is it genetic? How was Ashton conscious the whole time he was overdosed? Even you surprise me," she says breathily, "How do you think for yourself even after consuming our blood? How are you stronger than me? There are factors we just simply don't understand, Calum. You made a suggestion for Ashton and it worked. I'm willing to continue that by listening to every option."

"You're saying he knows more than your Elders?" Calum asks haughtily, needing a reliable source so he can save Ashton.

"They're not going to help us," she shakes her head, "Ashton was created illegitimately."

"What if we tell them it wasn't her fault? That they're Bound?" he asks desperately.

"Calum," Veronica shakes her head in defeat.

"UGH!" Calum startles everyone when he screams, punching a hole in the wall before he storms upstairs, speed walking past Ashton's door where he knows his best mate is getting twisted up further in his death and goes to his own room.

He shuts the door and flops face first into his plush bed to scream, lost and terrified. His lungs ache as they demand air and he stops, rolling to his back as he gasps and gawks at the ceiling. The door clicks open and shut, making him release a sigh of frustration, not wanting to talk.

Veronica stands before him, hurting at his pain and hoping they can find an answer. She searches his face, emotionless and tired, clearly uninterested in conversation. As her eyes roam his body, layin on his back with his legs spread and dangling off the bed. She too isn't interested in conversation. She has something else in mind entirely.
