It's been over a few hours since Em went out to look for Alex. She hasn't texted me or anything, all my calls go unanswered. I'm literally pacing up and down with Angel on my hip. I'm just glad Sindy came and picked her children up or I would go insane with five kids alone. She dropped Alex's belongings stating that John said she should do so if she wants to save their marriage.

Faith is sitting on the couch watching something on Tv. Hope as usual is in her room doing lord knows what.
I'm sure the kids heard us fighting, they just don't know what the fight was about. Angel woke up uneasy, She's been crying the whole time but know she has settled down after breastfeeding.

Faith : Mommy?
I just hum as a response as I settle in one of the couches.

Her : Are you and daddy getting a divorce?
I quickly turn to face her.

Me : No! Why?

Her : Hope and I heard you guys fight and soon after saw daddy drive away.

Me : Sweetie couples fight all the time but that doesn't mean they divorce. Yes your daddy and I may have had a fight but It wouldn't lead to that.

I say more to myself. In all truth I am scared Em may request that we divorce. I don't think I'll ever be able to leave without her. My life revolves around her. She's my life and without her I don't know what will become of me.

Me : Baby can you go get your sister and tell her dinners ready. You guys need to go to bed tomorrow is school.

Her : But daddy isn't home yet.

Me : I know that Faith. But you can't stay up late. I'll wait for your daddy and then we will both come wish you a good night like all the time.

She doesn't put anymore fight and does what I tell her to. Soon enough she comes down with Hope. They both eat silently. Hope doesn't say much. Usually the only person who can get through her is her father. I don't know but Hope seems out of it. Her walls are way to high and strong to be crumbled. She only speaks when spoken too or when it's necessary.
They both leave for bed. Angel doesn't seem like she'll be sleeping anytime soon as she's back at crying.

The door finally opens and in walks Em and Alex.

Taking Alex in she seems like she's done a lot of crying. Though her eyes are red and puffy. They also hold pain. My daughter is deeply hurt and I'm the reason behind it all.

"Da da" My thoughts are disturbed by Angel. She wiggles herself out of my hands and runs to Em.
"Da da up" she say holding her arm up as an indication to pick her up. Em does exactly that and tickles her tummy.

Em : Hello princess
Angel is in a fit of laughter. I watch Alex as she watches them. She's just starring without any emotion displayed.

Em : I went to Sindi's house first to get Alex's belongings but she said she already bought them here.
I nod.
Em : I guess that settles it then. Alex will be staying her with us, her family. Where she belongs.
She wasn't asking but she was telling me.

Me : I already fixed her room. She can decorate it to her liking over the weekend. I turn over to Alex.
Me : I don't know if your mother...

Alex : Sindy!
I watch her confused.
Alex : Not my mother. She's Sindi.

Me : Oh yes. I'm sorry. I don't know if she had told you but starting from tomorrow you'll be attending school here. We all go together in the mornings since I work there.

Alex : Great. Can't I just walk to school or take a bus?

I look to Em for some help but she shrugs showing me I'm on my own on this.

Me : No you can't walk. Non of my kids take the bus.

Alex : But I'm not your kid so I can actually use the bus. Can I just go to bed?

She says more to Em.

Em : Sure let me show you your room.

They all head up stairs. I'm sure she will put Angel to bed. I head towards our bedroom.

Emma

After putting Angel to sleep I go to our bedroom. Kate comes out of the bathroom, judging from her wet hair I  know she just had a shower. I don't say anything to her as I make my way to the bathroom. I take a very long needed bath. I had hoped that once I got done Kate would be long asleep but that's not the case. She's very much awake sitting at the edge of the bed. I don't say anything as I go to the closest to grab some blankets. She sees this.

Her : Em what are you doing?

Me : Grabbing some blankets. I'll sleep in the lounge.

Her : Look Babe. I know what I did wasn't right, and I understand that you feel betrayed. I know you hurt and still hurting. I know I messed up and I'm sorry. If I could turn back the hands of time, trust me I would. I wouldn't do the same mistake twice. Alex hates me already. I can't survive you hating me as well. The kids heard us fight and they frightened that we would get divorced.

I tried my best to keep my emotions on track. Right now all I wanna do is scream at this woman. I want her to feel my pain, The pain she caused Alex and The pain she caused our children.
The sparkle of my wedding ring makes itself know once I glance down on my ring finger. I take time starring at it. Our symbol of love, our promises and all our hard work put into building this family only to have Kate break everything. She broke my trust, my family and worst of all, she broke my heart.

Instead of answering her, I continue glancing over the wedding band. I slowly remove it from my finger. I gather all the courage to face her and when I did I wish I didn't. She stood there with her hands over her mouth as muffled sobs come out.

Me : You can have this.
I say handing her the band.
