face tinged violet.

it was like a never ending game of tag,
we were going in circles,
like it was a trick maze,
and it always ended with scraped knees,
face tinged violet,
which led to salty cheeks,
forged forgiveness,
after desperate apologies,
and meaningless sex,
to try and forget,
so erase my mind,
how you'd aggressively erase sharp pencil lines from an old school book,
but the graphite always stained,
the same way your tainted love engraved,
you were supposed to be my safe person,
but i wasn't running to you,
in fact it was quite the opposite,
i was running away from you,
but you always caught up,
no matter how fast i ran,
you got me,
you always got me.

interpretation: this poem is another about abusive and controlling relationships and about not being able to get away from your abusive partner, in comparison to a never ending game of tag.
