8. Brother

Police and the ambulance arrived after ten minutes of my call. They are examining Vicki Donavan who is the sister of the blondie Matt Donavan who is the ex-boyfriend and best friend of my sister.

Jeremy is drinking heavily as Elena is consoling him away from people, they both are sitting on top of a small picnic table. I walk over to them and see Jeremey snapping at Elena.

"Anyway Jenna will be here soon" I hear Elena say.

I walk beside them and place my chin on Jeremy's shoulder. He sigh and tilts his head slightly touching his head with mine.

"Elena!" We all three turn around to see Bonnie waving for Elena to come, she is standing near Sheriff Forbes.

"I'll be right back," she gets up and walks away towards Bonnie.

I jump slightly and take Elena's place. "You like her don't you?" I say looking at Vicki who is being carried away on a stretcher inside the back of the ambulance.

"Yea- I mean I don't know" he groans throwing away his empty beer bottle.

"Talk to me?"

"I don't want to, to be honest, not right now."

"Understandable" I look at him and give him a smile. His expression turns from annoyance to shock.

"What's wrong?" I furrow my brows at him.

"Just that Elena keeps on pestering and pestering until I snap" he chuckles lightly.

"It because she cares for you Jer."

"And you don't?" He raises his brow at me.

"Of course I do" I scoff at him, "Just everyone has different way of showing their care you know" I smile at him.

"Well I like your way, Elena just annoys me so much sometimes. You know I love her and all but sometimes I need space with things, you know what I mean?"

"Yeah I know what you mean" I ruffle his hair lightly.

"I am sorry" suddenly I hear a voice.

I turn back and see the man who tried to drug me.

I raise my brow at him in question, "I shouldn't have, I was out of it" he says in monotone and leaves without saying anything.

"What was that?" Jeremy asks.

"Someone asshole who tried to drug me" I shrug at him.

"What?" A furious looks takes over his place.

"Don't worry nothing happened."

"But-"

"Jeremey" I give him a reassuring look.

"Fine" he huffs but swings his arm around my shoulder nonetheless.

"Guys come on Jenna is here" we hear Elena's voice.

"Come on let's go" I jump down from the table and Jeremy follows me.

I turn around to see him looking at the ambulance.

"Jer she will be fine, okay?" I take his hand and literally drag him to Jenna's car.

I slide in the passenger seat and Elena and Jeremy get into the back, no one uttered a single word during the whole journey.

We reach  home quickly and without saying anything everyone dispersed into their rooms.

I change into my pajamas and go to bed and darkness consumes me.

I wake up the next day to multiple noises coming from downstairs but I am too lazy to check anything right now. I place my hands at the back of head and look at the ceiling.

After few minutes I hear doorbell go off. I look at the clock on my desk and see it's almost quarter to nine.

Who could be coming at this hour?

I raise from the bed and open the window and look down to see Stefan standing on the front porch.

Well that's interesting.

I close the window and go to bed again.

"Stefan has a brother" Elena barges in and "What the-" I rub my eyes and sit up blinking furiously.

"What's going on?" I ask.

Elena plops down on the my bed and looks at me.

"Stefan has an asshole of a brother, his name is Damon" she says in frustration.

"What does he have to do with you?"

I rub my eyes and remove my duvet and sit up straight.

"First of all what time is it?"

"It is in the afternoon, comet watch starts in two hours" she says.

"What?" I rip duvet off of my body, but halt in my steps, "What comet watch?" I question her.

"A comet is passing over, said it will be visible really clearly so everyone is gathering in the city park." 

I nod at her and I take the phone from nightstand and check the time, a relief washes over me. I still have an hour to go to work.

"Why didn't you wake me up for school?" I ask walking over to the closet. "Jenna said to let you sleep in, rest you know. You literally didn't take any rest from all the driving, school then you got a job" she explains.

"Just give me ten minutes then we will continue on Damon okay?" I tell her and she nods her head.

I run towards bathroom and jump into shower. I quickly rinse myself and change into work clothes. I grab my night clothes and throw them into the laundry basket outside the bathroom.

I nod towards my room and plop down on the bed.

"Now tell me" I huff out and give her a smile.
