Slow Burn [Klaus Mikaelson Story]

70. Intentions

I grab a glass of champagne and stood in the corner,  so I can  focus on Elijha. 

I hear lots of murmuring from Carol how she is happy that Mikaelsons have offered peace, Caroline talking with Matt about how she despises Klaus but she has to come because Matt came with Rebekah. 

I let out a scoff at her. 

Finally I hear the voice I was looking for, it's coming from the second floor. 

"Elena can I trust you tell me the truth?" Elijha questions in serious tone. 

With hesitation Elena answered, "Yeah-yeah you. can" she says before walking away further into the house. 

I keep listening to her feet rhythm and she suddenly stops, followed by a knock. 

"I see you came alone, wise choice" Finn opens the door but as soon as Elena steps inside the room I can't hear anything.

Wait what. 

I snap my eyes open, and look at teal eyes that I have to love and hate. His expressions nothing less than worried.

He places his hand on my forehead, "You are not burning" he mumbles more to himself. 

"Yes, I am fine. I just need a moment to myself. Please" I plead him. 

"Did Elijha said something to you?" He asks voice rising in anger, "I swear I will rip his-" 

"No Elijha hasn't said anything to me it's just there to many people in here and I needed to have a moment to myself" I explain it to him. 

"Bu-"

"Klaus!" I hear Caroline's annoying. voice, she quickly latches onto his arm then looks at me, "What are you doing with her thought you hated her?" she asks with sickening tone. 

When she said said something snapped inside him again, his eyes grew cold again, "You are right, I do hate her" he gives a lopsided smile before taking Caroline's hand and walking away.

"I have time to feel hurt later" I mumble under my breath, at this I see his snap his head in my direction his expression unrecognisable, I shake my head to myself and close my eyes again, leaning against the wall, the coolness bring warmth to me and I focus again. 

I still can't make it out, all I hear is muffled voices coming out of that room .

They are definitely planning something but what. 

Something is blocking me from hearing their conversation.

After few minutes I hear door opening, and I hear Esther voice for the first time, "I hope our agreement is clear, and please make sure you convince Elijha" and then door shuts again, I hear Elena's footsteps coming towards the stairs but she gets stopped by Elijha. 

"So what did she say?" he asks.

"It is true she wants you to be whole family again and live happily" She lies smoothly. 

"Are you sure?" Elijha asks.

"Yes" Elena breathes out before quickly making her way towards the stairs. 

After few minutes Esther descendants down the stairs and ask everyone to join her for a toast, she thanks everyone as waiters pass around the glasses, I take one as Elijha makes his way towards me. 

"Something is definitely wrong" I mumble out and he hums in agreement and takes a glass for himself as well. 

I clink my glass with Elijha and as I bring the glass to my lips something familiar hits my sense making me stop, I look at Elijha who has already taken a sip.
