46. Ingredients

Right now, me Elena and Stefan are sitting in Salvator's house, Damon is back to being grumpy again due to Elijah's presence so he has locked himself in his room.

"Tonight is the full moon" Elijah cuts the silence, making my eyes widen.

It is my birthday.

"Everything alright Isla?" He glances towards me and I vigorously shake my head yes.

"We should assume Klaus is prepared to break the curse."

"Elena said that sun and the moon curse is fake? That it is actually the curse placed on Klaus" Stefan questions.

"Klaus is a vampire born of werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting" Elijah explains, "but if he breaks it he will be true hybrid."

"Then why are we letting him break the curse?" Damon voice fills the room as he struts in, "We can kill him today-" he briefly glances at me.

I shake my head no.

"With Bonnie" he sighs out.

"No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying" Elena declines.

"I'll write her a great eulogy" he says making me look at him with a are you kidding me look.

"It is not an option Damon" she shuts him down completely.

"Alright how do we break this curse?" Stefan asks. We still are not talking but at least he got his brain back.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients,-" Elijah gets up from the armchair, walking towards the fire place.

"The moon stone" Stefan adds.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell bound within the stone" he takes a deep breath before continuing, "after that, Klaus, being both vampire and a werewolf will sacrifice one of each" he finishes.

"So where does Elena comes?" I ask.

"The final part of the ritual," he slowly walks over to the bookshelf behind the armchair he was sitting on, taking out a wooden box, "Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgänger to the point of her death" he finally says making my breath hitch.

The atmosphere got hundered times intense, Stefan grabbed Elena's hand trying to calm her down, more like trying to calm himself down.

Elena takes a deep breath and look at Elijah, "And that is where you come in." Elijah opens the wooden box, "This is the elixir I acquired for Katerina five hundred years ago, it possesses mystical properties of resurrection" Elijah takes out a glass bottle filled with gray liquid, "You actually found a way to save her life" Elena questions in shock.

"Yes, but unfortunately before I can tell her this she fled" He gives Elena a tight lip smile.

"That is your solution? a witch potion with no expiration date?" Damon scoffs, "If you want to come back to life how about John's ring?"

"The ring only works on humans, and doppelgänger is a supernatural occurrence, they are high chances that ring won't work on her" Elijah replies.

"Well I will take that chance over your elixir" he scoffs Elijah, "what if it doesn't work Elena?"

"Then I guess I will be dead" She shrugs making my jaw drop.

Damon scoffs at her in disbelief, leaving the room.

"Do we know that Klaus has everything he needs to do this? Does he have a werewolf?" Elena questions Elijah, "Klaus has been waiting to break this curse for a thousand years, if doesn't already have a werewolf, my guess is by tonight, he will."

"Great" I mutter, sinking into the couch.

Stefan leaves the room leaving me, Elena, and Elijah alone. My phone chimes in my jean pocket. I glance towards Elena who gets up from her place, walking towards Elijah. I look at my phone and there is a happy birthday text from Atticus with a lot of emojis, I quickly reply with a thank you.

I turn around to see Elena standing parallel to Elijah examining the the glass bottle. I silently getting up walking towards them.

"There are chances this elixir won't work, I don't want to miss lead you both" he says.

"I know the chance I am taking" Elena says seriously.

"Do you mind?" I ask Elijah pointing towards the bottle, "No, no by all means" he gives me a green light.  I gently brush my hand over the bottle, suddenly gross death like feeling invaded my body. Instantly my air supply cuts off and I start to cough wildly.

Elijah stabilises me by holding me up by my forearms. "Are you alright? What is wrong?" He asks worriedly.

"What's wrong?" I hear Damon's voice as I started to choke, "She-she just touched the bottle and this happened" Elena explains.

"I can-can't breath" I wheeze out clawing my throat.

Damon speeds towards me, picking me up bridal style and rushes towards kitchen, he forces me to drink water, as soon as the water touched my lips. I gulped it down in one go. Slowly I start to feel air getting into my lungs, so started to take slow deep breathes. After few minutes when I feel normal, I nod at Damon telling him that I am okay now, that removes the stressed expression he was having.

"How do you know?" I ask referring to help with water.

"Atticus" he simply says.

"What happened?"

"I touched that bottle- I barley brushed it and I started to feel like death. It was like someone was choking me" I trail off looking in the distance. My eyes widen as I realise what it is.

I look at him, I jump down from the counter and open the tap. I walk back to him so I am super close to him.

"It is poisonous" I whisper at him.

"What?!"

"Shhh not so loud" I lightly hit him in the back of his head.

"Whatever is in there is poisonous" I rephrase.

"How-" he begins but I give him a are you kidding me look. Finally reality hits him, "Right- wait today you will-" I nod at him again before he can complete the sentence.

"Hey is she alright now?" Stefan walks in with other two following behind him.

I nod at him giving them a smile.

"Later" Damon whispers, closing off the tap.

"Get out!" I hear Jenna's voice.

"Jenna" Its Alaric. I whip my head towards Damon who has the same expression as me, we all run outside to see Jenna holding a crossbow towards Alaric.

"It is Alaric" I say to her.

"Shut it" she looks at me, making my blood boil. Damon grans my hand before I can raise it to hit her.

"Jenna it is me" Alaric has his hands in front of him in surrender.

"Stay away from me!"

"What is going on?" Elena asks.

"I swear its me Elena, Klaus let me go" he says looking in everyones eyes.

"Prove it" Damon mumbles

"The first time Jenna and I spend the night together Jeremy walking in when I-"

"Okay it's him!" Jenna interrupts.

"Why did he let you go?" Stefan questions.

"He wanted me to deliver a message," he takes a deep breath, gleaning at Elena, "the sacrifice happens tonight."

Everyone turned their heads to Elijah as if he will mysteriously save Elena. Things got very real.

"I will try to find something out" I glance at Damon, he nods his head and I make my way outside.
