The explosion was loud and echoed throughout the empty bank. Sam was lying on the ground, hidden under a desk. His blood freely pouring from his nose onto the cold, marble floor. He didn't know what was happening but he could hear Kate whimpering. He knew that she had been taken hostage and he was afraid she would die, no matter how much he hated her. "Is it open?" He heard someone call out and a reply wasn't given for a while but then a yes was snapped back. He heard scurrying and laughing. The vault, he thought to himself, they've got the money.
About ten-twenty minutes went by and they hadn't left yet. Constant biquering and joking was heard and Sam's head pounded and his nose ached. And just to help the headache more, the door burst open and shouts and screams were pushed and shoved about the room. Sam poked his head up above the desk and saw the police. He observed what was to happen next. The police had guns and shields. The thugs ignored the threat that the police made and ducked behind cover and fire rounds at the officers. The bullets bounced off the surface of the shields. The room became a battle ground and Sam saw Kate. Then she began to move. Someone had her collar and were dragging her away. She wriggled and squirmed and shrieked as she was hauled to her feet. A cold gun was pressed to her temple and she froze as did the bullets being fired. The police lowered their guns and their shields and yelled at the thug who had the hostage. Sam looked towards Kate. He saw the fear in her face and he panicked. He scanned the room and sprinted to the door, he got to the main room and his head darted left. One guy. Alone. One punch and he'd go down easy, but Sam was weak. He looked around and saw a shard of glass. He picked up the shard-ignored the tremendous pain as the glass sliced his hand-and sprinted to the thug. His head met the thug's and he sliced with the shard. The edge met his neck and it sliced into it. Not deep, but deep enough to inflict a tonne of pain. He picked up his gun and fired at the other thugs. The police began to worry the hostage would be taken down, but the hostage taker was the first to be shot. After Kate was safe, the firing began again. Kate crawled to safety and Sam felt happy he had become a hero.
