"George?"

"Hey dad!" George said, practically jumping off the couch. Clay looked up at him confused. George spun around and stared at the ground with a smile on his face.

"How are you? I haven't talked to you in months.." his dad said, tapping the table. George chuckled and sat down, scooting next to Clay, almost laying in his lap. He laid his head on Clays shoulder.

"I'm great! Anything new happening?"

"No not really, other than maw maw is getting sick."

George frowned.

"She's very old- like VERY old." George muttered, grabbing clays hand and intertwining their fingers. He smiled.

"How's Clay?"

George smiled and darted his eyes up at Clay who had his full attention on his phone. George chuckled and looked back at the tv.

"He's right next to me, on his phone."

Clay turned his phone off and put his full attention on George, smiling slightly. George looked up at him and Clay mouthed,

"Whose that?"

George placed his phone against his chest,

"My dad." He said before bringing the phone back to his ear. Clay nodded and slightly squeezed George's hand, rubbing his thumb against George's.

"YOU LEFT YOUR FUCKING LUBE IN THE BATHROOM YOU DING DONGS!!!" Nick shouted from the bathroom upstairs. George's eyes went wide and grew embarrassed, face palming. Clay squeezed George's hand as he left out a wheeze, struggling for air as he wheezed.

"I- uh? Who w-as that?" His dad asked.

"Nick..clays best friend. Also my best friend." George said, pinching his nose. As if in cue, Nick came running down the stairs screaming.

"PICK UP AFTER YOUR SELVES YOU SEXAHOLICS!!!"

"I'm so sorry dad-" George sighed. His dad chuckled.

"What's up lovers!" Nick said, leaning against the back of the couch. George turned around and gave him a angry look. Nick raised a brow confused. George pointed to the phone, Nick shrugged still confused, he looked at Clay.

"It's his dad.." Clay whispered, nodding at Nick with a smile. Nicks eyes went wide and he slapped his hand over mouth. He stepped back slowly laughing into his hand.

"I-I'm so so-HAHAHAHA-" he ran away laughing. George sighed and rolled his eyes.

"How's mum?" George asked, scooting closer to the edge of the couch.

"She misses you. She keeps complaining saying- 'my boy has grown up!'," his dad chuckled.

George giggled along, playing with the promise ring Clay have him a while ago.

"How's the weather there?"

"Oh lord- you wouldn't believe how many times I've almost stripped and just laid in the bed butt naked." George said, giggling along with his dad. Clay arched a brow at the idea. He leaned into George's ear as he was speaking and whispered,

"Why don't ya~"

George's face went red and he began to stutter. Clay leaned back, tsking at how George handles himself.

"The beach is so beautiful, you guys need to come out here one week just to see this view, it's really nice." George said, swallowing back his stutters.

"That'd be nice. I'd have to ask your mother about that one. Oh! Are you gonna come visit for your mothers birthday? I keep meaning to ask you."

George looked at the calendar.

"Uhhh I don't know..I hope so?"

"It's okay if you can't, I just wanted to know."

George frowned.

"She's not doing too well with his death is she?" George asked, swallowing back his sobs. Clay sat up and scooted next to George, sitting in the same position as him. Elbows on his knees, leaning forward slightly.

"No..no she's not George." His dad sighed. George's head fell down as he let out a sigh.

"It's been 7 months?" George asked.

"5.." his father corrected him. George hummed and but his lip, holding back his cries. His uncle, his mother's brother, passed in a really REALLY terrible car wreck, purposely happened. His car flipped into a ditch and hit a pole on the way, almost folding it in half. Of course, George couldn't be there for the funeral or anything, or even there for his mother. As much as he wanted to be.

"I feel like it's my fault for not being there for her.."

"It's not your fault George, it's no ones fault! She's just missing him and that's why she's so worried about you."

George looked up and hummed, leaning back against the couch. Clay followed and looked at George, crossing his arms in confusion.

"Alright we'll I should go check on her, I love you and I hope you have fun! Tell Clay I said hi." His dad said.

"Bye dad." George said before hanging up. George dropped his phone on the coffee table and threw himself back against the couch, covering his face in his hands and taking deep breaths.

"What's wrong babe?" Clay asked rubbing his thigh. George sat up and removed his hands, a straight (🧍‍♂️don't lie-) face presented.

"George." Clay said more serious, slightly shaking him. He didn't even blink.

"George!" Clay almost shouted, shaking him aggressively. George blinked, looking at Clay.

"S-Sorry wot?"

"What's wrong?"

George shook his head and looked down, bouncing his leg. He got that habit from Clay. Clay immediately squeezed his leg and ran his hand up and down.

"Hey..you can talk to me, you always have."Clay said, tilting his head. George pulled Clay into a hug and kissed his neck.

"I love you..."

Clay was very confused at this point. He hugged George back furrowing his brows.

"I- love you too?" He said confused. As they pulled back Clay looked into George's eyes.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

George nodded with a slight smile.
