"Daddy, can I talk to you alone, please?" Avery managed to pull her father into the clubhouse kitchen to talk to him.

"What is it?" Sonny shoved his hands into the pockets of his black designer dress slacks.

"I know you and Mom are upset –"

A snort from her father interrupted her.

Avery glared at her father. "Real mature, Dad," she rolled her eyes. She was the teenager in this situation, not him. "We already told you this wasn't planned but it happened. What's done is done and Opie and I love each other and we love this baby. How do you feel about Jax?"

Her question caught him off guard and Sonny appeared confused but he still answered her question. "I like Jax. I respect him. He's to your sister and your nephews. He's family."

"Yeah, well, Opie's Jax's best friend for a reason," she pointed out. "They're more or less the same person. The same goes for Happy even though he's admittedly a bit weirder. One just has more hair and the other has way less," she chuckled. "Kristina, Molly, and I, we're loved. We're protected. I'm still going to go to school and Molly's already graduated. What more could you really want for us as a parent?"

Sonny smirked and shook his head. "My little girls on the east coast with me."

That made Avery smile. "We're not your little girls anymore...but we'll always be your daughters and your niece. You're welcome to come and visit us anytime."

"And maybe you'll bring my grandbaby home to Port Charles every now and then for a visit." Sonny raised an eyebrow as he countered.

"Of course," Avery happily agreed.

Sonny opened his arms to his daughter. "Come here, mija."

Avery gladly went into her father's arms for a hug.

"Congratulations, querida." Sonny kissed her forehead.

"I take it everything's good in here?" Opie appeared, towering in the kitchen doorway.

"Yeah, babe." Avery pulled away from her dad and had to wipe away a stray tear.

Sonny surprised his daughter's new husband when he held out his hand to him. "Welcome to the family, Opie."

Opie's eyebrows raised in surprised but he took the offered hand and shook it. "Thanks, Sonny."

"Remember what I said at dinner?"

Opie nodded. "If she's unhappy, you'll kill me. Yeah, I remember."

"Then you have my blessing." Sonny gave him a curt nod.
