A week later, Avery was putting together the twins' nursery with her mom, sister, cousin, Gemma, and Venus. Opie was at the clubhouse where SAMCRO and the Corinthos men were putting their heads together to locate Clay. All of the furniture was already assembled. When Opie needed to relieve stress, he built things, fixed things, or blew things up. That last hobby she encouraged him to partake in away from home, though. The decorating still needed to be done, and because of their many friends and family members, there was a boatload of baby things to be sorted through and put away. While Avery would admit that she and Opie had bought the twins a fair bit themselves, she would also admit that most of their clothes and toys had come from people in their inner circle.
At the moment, everyone was focused on sorting and finding homes for the clothes, burp rags, and blankets.
"Oh, Avery, darlin'," Venus got her attention from the closet where she was hanging up some of the nicer baby outfits. All of which she was pretty damn positive had been purchased by her mom and Gemma. Well, everything except the tiny little leather jackets. Those had been a gift from their Uncle Jax. "Dawn said she was gonna stop by. She said she had a baby gift for you. I hope you don't mind."
Dawn was Venus's stepdaughter, the child of Tig from his first marriage. She was a wild child who had been spending an awful lot of time with Avery's older brother, Morgan, the last week.
Avery waved a dismissive hand. "It's fine. I like having her around. She's fun."
Venus chuckled. "Fun's one way of putting it."
"Morgan seems to think she's fun too." Gemma joined the conversation. "What's going on with that?" She looked to Avery's mom, Carly. Both women were seated on the floor, folding onesies and blankets.
"Morgan never tells me anything, never has," Carly shook her head. "He talks to his dad about that kind of stuff. But, he has been way happier ever since the party at the clubhouse when that Tara business was taken care of." Avery almost laughed. Her mother had a gift for side-stepping the word 'murder' in a graceful way.
The doorbell ringing interrupted the women's conversation.
"I'll get it," Kristina wormed her way from the dresser to get out of the cramped room. A few minutes later, she reappeared in the company of Dawn, who was carrying a gift bag.
"I can't stay," Dawn told Avery from the doorway. "And you guys look like you're at full capacity anyway. I have a meeting with my parole officer." She was on probation for mail fraud, if Avery was remembering correctly. "I just wanted to drop this off." She handed Avery the gift bag.
Avery grinned when she saw what the bag contained. She pulled out a small purple motorcycle figurine. Where the words Harley-Davidson should have been was the name Harlee Mae instead, written in the same font in white. Next to that, she found a small black metal model of a 1969 black Chevy impala. The name Dean was written in white rock salt font along the driver's side of the car. "I love these!" She stood up from the rocking chair and put both figures on the bedside table that sat between both cribs. "You 'Supernatural' is where I first fell in love with the name Dean," she told Dawn as she made her way over to give her a quick hug. When she pulled back, she eyed Dawn for a moment. "You know, you actually look like a demon from that show."
"Yeah, Meg," Dawn rolled her eyes. "I've been told...many, many times. I'll you ladies to it."
