Seth, who was he really? A pirate for sure. A scoundrel for certainty. But a good man, one who would remain loyal to a woman like her?
Now that Raven could never be entirely sure of, given their history together. He was still a pirate after all.

"Seth...was that...?" Raven whispered with sudden fear.
Seth nodded, his green eyes hard with alarm. He looked wary, but also something else. Relieved perhaps? Relieved that his crew, his friends even, might still be alive?
"Stay here." Seth suddenly muttered.
Raven immediately felt her heart sink like a rock in the lake.
"You, you are serious!? Would you really go and investigate this?" She snapped.
He nodded with absolute resolve.
"I must. It may...be my crew..." He said.
"And what of me!?" She hissed.
Seth turned to her with a stern look. "Just stay here, I'll be back soon."
Raven scowled. Her supposed husband had shown himself to possess some honor, but what of the others he was so earnestly seeking out? What would they do upon seeing her survival? She was the only female amongst an entire group of lawless men. She need not guess what their intentions would be!
Yet she sat there silently as Seth grabbed a torch and began to walk away from her, their camp, and his promise to her. He went along the beach, searching for any survivors.
Honestly, Raven had no idea what she had been thinking in trusting such a man. She should have guessed he would show loyalty to fellow comrades first. Though the worst part was how little he obviously cared for her well being. Did he hold no shame? Would he really go and rescue his own crew at her expense? Did he not care what might happen to her at their hands out here though she was to become his wife!?
Angry tears escaped her eyes. She couldn't believe how foolish she had been in trusting him! How could she ever agree to marry the likes of him? How stupid was she to dream of a family and safety amongst a pirate's care!
No more. If Raven could no longer trust Seth, then she could no longer stay by his side. It seemed her life was left in her own hands, and if she wanted to survive then she would have to decide on what was best, and staying at the camp was out of the question for sure.
But where was she to go? Into the forest? Travel across the beach? Both were no doubt dangerous. Going deep into the island could lead to getting lost or getting injured, but traveling the beach could leave her exposed to potential pursuers.
Raven sighed. She supposed the beach was the less fatal option out of the two. As a last resort she could head into the forest to hide. Until then however, she needed to make as much progress as possible.
So this was it. This was her plan. She had to leave Seth and his crew behind, so she had to move now!
"Good-bye Seth." She mumbled aloud.
Then she grabbed the gathered food and a water bucket, and then walked on towards the opposite end of the beach.
