The first night of captivity was by far the easiest for Raven. It was the next day that followed that became unbearable. The silence of the dark celled cargo room, the fearful anticipation of the pirates next move, as well as the loneliness of Linda's missing presence, ate away at her sanity quickly. By the next afternoon Raven felt ready for death, the despair simply feeling like too much to bear any longer.

But that was when everything changed. For the better or worse she still was not sure.

"Well, well, ain't you a pretty one. You're much more lovely than I first realized." A voice said.

Raven jolted up from her position against the wall to face a young man, the very one whom had kidnapped her in Linda's place.

"What do you want?" She snapped crankily.

The pirate's green eyes widened with surprise at her outburst.

"Hmm, still a little feisty I see..." He chuckled.

Raven hopped to her feet and held her head up high to look down on the man.

"Well you sir, are most unpleasant in every sense of the word." She retorted.

Her captor laughed again, looking amused.

"I see. That's too bad, because I was just starting to like you. I am Seth by the way."

"What do you want, pirate?" She hissed impatiently.

The man shrugged nonchalantly.

"Oh you know, the usual. A hefty ransom for your safe return paid by your father the Governor. Then we will be rich for life!" He chuckled darkly.

Raven gasped with fear. A ransom? For her? But she wasn't Linda!

"Well, how long might this exchange take?" She asked nervously.

The man gave her a wickedly handsome smile.

"What's the matter? Bored already?"

She scowled and folded her arms impatiently.

"Indeed, and tired of this smelly filth. I demand to be released quickly!" She said.

"Oh my, so demanding for a prisoner!" He laughed.

Then he shrugged and added. "The time of your stay will be determined by your father, not us. The sooner we get the money, the sooner you return home."

Raven gulped quietly, knowing full well that the Governor would not be paying any sum of money for her safe release. Which meant she was all but alone, abandoned to face these pirates on her own!

"I do hope your father is swift about the exchange miss, since the captain is not a patient man. He will not tolerate delays in his payment." The pirate mused.

Raven held her head up high again and spoke with absolute confidence.

"Then what are you waiting around here for? I cannot offer you any money. Now begone! I expect you to get me home within the week."

The young man laughed lightly and strode over to the bars of the cell to face her. She kept her stance and refused to back down to him.

"I almost hope he does not offer up the money. That way I might get to see you for a bit longer miss." He said with a wink.

Raven scowled angrily and turned away from his ever handsome smile.

"Begone!" She snapped.

The man's low chuckle was all she heard before the door to her room was slammed closed again, leaving her alone to weep for a few minutes.
