Caelian is a spirit who was born without the ability to feel emotion. Found as a child by the forest goddess, Gaia, she grants him four elementals that allow him to feel positive emotion. As he's living in the Eternal Forest, a dark force ends up c...
The next morning, Caelian opened his bleary eyes to the sound of snoring. Evelyn was on his left side, sleeping loudly. On his other side were Zephyr and Damien.
The four of them had decided to stay together in Caelian's room in order to ensure protection for Damien. Caelian was still having a hard time believing that his aunt had done, but he knew he couldn't leave Damien alone.
He yawned as he sat up, rubbing at his eyes. He was glad the bed in his room was big enough for everyone. He looked over at them. They were still sleeping soundly. There wasn't a clock in his room, but from the fact darkness was still visible through the window, it was either very late or very early.
Caelian carefully wiggled his way out of the blankets and crawled off of the bed. His socks touched the cold floor, prompting him to put his boots on quickly. He tapped his feet together as he looked down at them. He had still been wearing the outfits Athena and the others picked out for him. He frowned.
He stood up and walked into the large closet, doing his best to stay quiet as he pulled his own coat down from the hanger. He changed quickly into his normal clothes. He didn't want to wear the frivolous clothing any longer.
As he walked out of the closet, he checked on the others again. They were still asleep. He tiptoed over to the door and carefully opened it, closing it behind him as he left the room. Zephyr sat up and looked at the door.
Caelian walked down the hallways, his footsteps echoing down the silent corridors. He hoped he wouldn't run into anyone. He didn't feel like talking to anyone. As he reached the outside pathways, he sat down on the edge of one of the bridges and watched as the sun slowly rose.
Sol...
He needed to speak to him. What would he be like? Athena had said he had been in a bad mood lately, but surely he'd be willing to purify his grandson's elemental? It shouldn't be that much of a challenge.
Caelian stood up with a stretch. Athena had pointed in the direction Sol's throne was during the tour. He remembered it well. It was down a long, winding raised pathway that eventually turned into stairs. The very one he had been sitting on.
He could see the sparkling golden platform in the distance, with golden steps leading up to it. They floated in the air, with nothing to hold them up. Caelian took a deep breath before starting onward.
He ascended the steps easily, pushing through the clouds that drifted in front of them. As he came out from one of the clouds, he paused. He had reached the platform, and before him stood a large throne. Sol looked down at him.
Sol appeared to be an older man, with long, white hair and a white beard. A golden halo with a floating blue gem hung above his head, and his clothing was a mixture of gold armor and black, white and blue celestial fabrics.Six golden wings sat on his back, shimmering brilliantly in the sunlight. They made him remember what Athena had said about his father, Apollo. But Sol seemed nothing like how Athena described Apollo. He gave off an intimidating aura that made Caelian shrink back.
