He walked out from the dark, Arya noticed the voice instantly. Robin turned after hearing a new voice, he was met with another male presence.
"Who's this?" The male came out to stand by Arya, at her dismay. Robin inspected his face, realising it was the same face he'd seen before.
"Matt?" Now three stood on the hill, strangely the breeze got colder, it was now uncomfortable.
She couldn't believe it, how was he here? He followed her? Of course he followed her.
Matt stood, glaring over Robin. Their eyes would not leave one another. The tension built quickly and Arya couldn't think of anything in the moment to defuse the situation.
"So is this the guy?" Matt smirked looking over the guy who stood in front of him.
Robin watched Arya, his face didn't change, it only held the same disappointed glare.
"What the hell are you doing here?" She turned to him, staring into his eyes harshly. The cold breeze of the wind started to pick up.
"I followed you... I didn't know what the hell you were doing, now it looks like you're out her to see him" Matts voice came off quite chill but there was a bitter undertone to what he was saying.
Her face pained, she couldn't bring herself to say another word so the silence continued until she could.
"Look you need to leave Matt" Arya said to him, looking away to Robin. Matt had ruined it once, she wasn't going to let it happen a second time.
"No- I think I'll leave" Robin spoke, he gave her a glance, turning back home.
"Wait no, Robin! Please" she begged trying to stumble down the steeper hill to catch up to him.
"Please" she grabbed his arm, pleading into his eyes, she could see they still looked at her the way they'd first met.
"Arya... don't do this to me" he sighed, he looked pained, his face wrinkled with agony.
"Robin... I love you, more than anything... These last few weeks with you have been so good and I don't wanna loose you" Arya choked up the words to try and have any last hope. Nothing she said now was a lie, she knew that... she just hoped he knew that too.
"Im sorry Arya, I won't compete with another guy, not even for you..." Robin inhaled seeing the look and her face change, he'd hit something inside her.
With that last word he turned again and walked off, amongst the trees, maybe the last time she'd see him.
"So you do love him?" Matt stood on the hills, overlooking Arya.
"Matt, I think you need to leave" Arya didn't face him to speak, instead kept her eyes on the last part of the forest she watched Robin leave in.
"No, you know what Arya, I'm sick of this, I feel like things aren't working" Matt spoke coming closer to her.
"Matt listen... I don't love you" she finally faced him, "If I'm being honest, I don't even like you".
Matt was silent for a moment, looking for any signs on her face of weakness, there was none. Finally, it felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, for the first time in years.
"No..."
She stared into his eyes, "what do you mean no?" She spoke.
"No, I'm not letting you go just because you like someone else, your my girlfriend and your not going to just walk out on me like this" his voice raised in anger now.
"It's not your decision Matt, this is it.... we're finished" she glared up at him.
"No, you think I just came all the way here for you to break up with me? I don't think so" he huffed, his lips clenching. His stride coming evermore closer to her.
"I never wanted you to come, I never wanted to be with you! I don't even know why we dated in the first place" With that last breath she turned away, letting go of the last feelings she had.
"Well I came here to spend time with you!" He could see her frustration and didn't like the new confidence she seemed to have.
"No you didn't; you came here to watch my every move. All you want to do is control every single thing I do like you don't trust me!" Arya looked at him, sniffing from the cold, she could feel her face turn cold.
"I don't trust you because I didn't want you going off with other guys like him!" Matt was practically yelling at this point, in any other circumstance Arya would have avoided moments like that at all costs, she hated the conflict but it had to be done, "how many times has he fucked you?!".
Arya stared at him, furious of his outrageous accusation, "never".
Matt laughed obnoxiously, it was clear he didn't believe her. "Don't lie to me babe" he whined, as if he knew she'd cave and come crawling back to him, Arya suffered no fools.
"I would never.... Robin would nev...." Arya shook her head, those things had never even crossed her mind when she was with Robin, it wasn't like that.
"oh whatever, I bet you kissed him" Matt looked at her again, a half smile appeared on his face. Arya kept quiet, giving Matt the answer he needed.
He turned away from her, shaking his head in displeasure, muttering away to himself. Arya's eyes stayed on Matt, she waited for him to say something, sure enough he did.
"I was good to you... and this is how you repay me?" saying this, he turned around, seeing her staring back.
"you were never good to me, everything you ever did was for yourself, just to look good in front of others. When my nan died you didn't care! not once did you ask how I was or how I was feeling, all you cared about was why I didn't answer your text straight away" she stopped, taking a breath of cold air," your just selfish Matt... and a prick". It seemed something in her had changed, standing on her own two feet for once was liberating.
He had nothing to say, still taking in what Arya had said, she didn't care anymore, he walked past Arya, she did not turn around. all she wanted was him to leave and never come back, she'd finally had enough of his shit.
"How fucking dare you!" Arya felt his hand grab her arm, shocking her whole body. He held her arm tight and did not let go. She could feel the slight sharp sensation of Matts nails digging into her warm skin.
She watched his hand clench tighter and glanced her head up to his face, cold and dark. No light reflected into his eyes causing them to become black voids.
"Let go of me!" She pulled from his grasp and thrashed to be freed. Instead he threw her against the nearest tree, making a quick jolt go through her body.
A pain from her back started to ache, she'd hit the tree at such force, she could feel the deep graze in her upper back, the blood clear in her mind. Though, the sky was dark now, even the moon struggled to light up under the canopy of trees. not another person in sight or a call to be heard...
It seemed to resemble an all-too familiar memory that took place in those same woods...
