The morning was breezy for the first time that week, which was nice. The last few days were hot and humid by 10am, making it unbearable to do anything. Arya just finished her food and began to clear up some things on the table.
"Could you take some of that to the bins please" her dad called, he was busy doing something.
Arya looked over to see the large bins, they were surrounded in a wooden fencing, right by the path. The other people in caravans used these bins too and she watched someone just leave after putting their own rubbish into them.
She made her way over, crossing the road with some bags. She noticed a crowd of kids around the same age as her, some older some younger. They were all different heights and sizes, with a few bikes and scooters littered by their feet.
Arya minded her own business and threw the bags into the bin but she was careful to keep her eye on them, she was always cautious when around teens like those. As much as she didn't want to be, she was intimidated by them. By the time she turned around to go back, one of teens had come up behind her, catching her off guard.
He was larger and taller than she was, he tried to tower over her to look menacing. Arya's eyes looked up at him with a long glare, studying his fierce face.
"Excuse me" Arya politely moved to the side but he did the same. A smile started to spread across his face as he began to tease the girl, he was enjoying it.
The others with him were rowdy and called things that Arya couldn't hear, chatting and yelling.
"So, what's your name neek" his voice was rude and arrogant, she had seen boys like him at her school before and always ignored them, blending in with the rest of her peers but here was different. There weren't many children on the site and Arya was the only one who didn't hang around with other kids.
"Why would I tell you?" Arya glared at him, knowing she wasn't going to get out of this situation by being polite. She went to walk away but was stopped again.
"Because I asked and when I ask for something I get it!" He clearly had anger issues, his voice was loud. She just stood their taking his fury.
"Well looks like you won't be getting what you want and if you don't mind I don't want to waste my breath on someone like you" Arya was never good at comebacks but tired her best.
She could hear the noise of the others behind the boy quieten down, which made her feel that bit more uneasy. something told Arya they knew more than she did.
The boy looked her deep in the eye and his face turned darker and colder. His hands clenched into fists, not much of a smirk anymore, just the tight hold of his jaw.
The others around him were now silent, Arya questioned this, was he really going to hit her? Would he do it In front of so many others.
"You shouldn't have said that you little..." his voice was interrupted by another.
It wasn't coming from the group behind the boy but instead over by Aryas caravan. It was her dad, hed seen what was happening.
"Hey!" His voice was stern, he glared over at the boy who stared at him. Arya took this chance to go past him, while he wasnt looking. she quickly headed into the van.
"Is everything ok?" Her dad asked, walking inside with her. "Yeh it's fine he was just joking around".
"Is that why you looked so terrified?" He spoke, he followed her into the caravan.
"Yeh he was just joking that's all" she lied, she didn't want the hustle of anyone, she didn't want to ruin her holiday with some stupid teenagers.
