Sunday. The day I was going to confront my parents about... my parents.

"Good morning, sweetie." My dad yawned as he entered the kitchen for his cup of morning tea.

"Is Dad up yet?" He raised his brow at my serious tone.

"Just waking up. Why?"

"I need to talk to you both." He nodded after a moment's hesitation.

"I'll give him a second to drink some coffee, then we'll come and talk. Okay?" I nodded solemnly. As he made the two hot drinks, and left to wake my father, I started sweating with anticipation. I had never had a conversation like this with anyone before, let alone my parents. I knew that I would get nervous and leave something out. Ramen watched me intensely.

After a few minutes, my parents walked in and sat down at the table opposite me.

"What's this all about?" I took a deep breath.

"You've been hiding something from me. I want to know about my birth parents." They shared a look.

"What's brought this on? You've never cared about them before." Father put his hands together on top of the table. He was uncomfortable.

"I just had a feeling that there was something to know." I lied smoothly, just like I had practiced a million times in my head. "I've found out some things for myself. But the more answers I get, the more confused I become."

"Tell us what you've found out then, little detective." Father brought his clasped hands under his chin. I glanced at Dad, who was looking down, probably playing with his fingers in his lap. They were both on edge.

"My family were well known. Except, no regular people recognise my last name. There was a fire where two people died. One of the people was Mariko Hata. The fire was officially caused by faulty wiring. But, and I quote, 'villains had nothing to do with their deaths'."

"What does that mean?" Father's voice was loud, a little too quick.

"You tell me." I replied coolly.

"Who told you such a thing?" Dad asked, a lot calmer. After a moment, I came up with my answer.

"A friend." Father took a deep breath, to calm down, I suppose.

"Is that all of the information you have?"

"The League of Villains. Their leader knew my parents. When I saw the two villains yesterday, Endeavour yelled my name. The villains both instantly recognised my name. They kept calling me the 'Hata girl' or the 'Hata kid'. They said that the heros had gotten their hands on me and brainwashed me." I clenched my fist and looked at them both determinedly. "Who am I related to? What happened in the past of my family, and why is it being kept from me?" Silently, Father stood up and left the table. I also stood up.

"Where do you think you're going?"

"Don't take that tone with me."

"Then don't walk away when I'm having a serious conversation with you!" He gave a single short laugh.

"This isn't serious. This is a joke. You're messing around with things you don't want to get caught up in." I narrowed my eyes and ran my tongue along my teeth.

"And what is that supposed to mean?"

"Shouta..."

"What?" He snapped. Dad flinched slightly at his tone of voice.

"I know these aren't the kind of questions we want to have to answer-"

"She's doing a fine job of answering them on her own, clearly."
