-Grace's POV-
"What?" I hear Luke's voice ask, but it seems distant. "Grace, what is it?" When I don't answer he shakes my shoulders, pulling me back.
" Only one more left." I say emotionless.
"What?" Detective Mason asks, knitting her eyebrows together.
"The last message I have from Amelia was at 1:26. It says 'Only one more left.' What was Emilee's time of death?" I look up at the detective, and her face is full of horror.
"1:20."
I sigh, "That means one more person is going to die."
"No. We won't let that happen. I pro-"
I cut her off, "Don't even. Don't say those two words. I'm sick of hearing them. You can't promise anything. More than likely whoever she is going for next, is gonna die. So don't say that."
She looks taken aback and doesn't say anything. I turn around and storm off, not knowing if Luke is following or not. I ignore Paul as he tries to speak to me and continue out to the car. Right as I am buckling up, I see Luke coming out of the department.
He gets in the car, and I prepare for a speech. He sighs, and I get ready to tune him out. "They're just trying to do they're job, Grace. You can't just go snapping at people when they try to reassure you." And that's all I hear. He continues to talk all the way back to the house, and I pretend to listen.
"Do you understand?"
"Grace?"
"Hmm, oh yeah sorry. I understand. They're just trying to help. I apologize. I'm just stressed and greiving. She'll understand, right?" I sniffle for good measure. The tears were dried up by my anger, but I can feel that my face is puffy.
"Yeah, I think so. Are you alright?"
"Of course not, Luke. My three best friends are dead, my boyfriend was shot and so was basically a brother to me, and now something else is going to happen. I think I have a right not to be okay."
"I know, Grace, but you need to talk to us. Don't bottle everything up or it is going to be worse."
"I guess you're right. Can we go in now?" I ask, and Luke nods. We get out, and he puts his arm around me as we start walking, on the same sidewalk Calum was shot.
I hear a rustling in the bushes and kind of freeze. "What's wrong?" Luke asks.
"I-I thought I heard something."
"It was probably nothing/"
"Yeah." I nod, trying to convince myself, "Let's go." We start walking, and I hear it again.
"Luke, there it was again."
"I didn't hear anything, Gr-"
He's cut off by Amelia stepping out of the bush, gun in hand. "Well, well. Look who we have here."
