It's complicated

Chapter 14

-Calum's POV-

Ashton's and Michael's eyes go wide, "What?!" They both yell.

"Yea" I say as a smile slowly forms on my face. I thought I did too, but I didn't want to say it if she didn't feel the same way. That's mainly why I did the whole tickling session, so I could get her to say she loved me with all her heart and soul.

I hear the door open and Luke comes out, gives me a dirty look, and walks back to his room.

I get up and make my way into the den. Grace is standing there crying and when she sees me, she's starts running to me. I open my arms and she falls into me, her tears wetting my shirt. I stroke her hair and whisper I'm sorry.

She pulls away a couple minutes later and wipes her eyes, she's even beautiful when she's crying. "He said he would send me home if I didn't break up with you."

"I know, it's okay" I say and pull her in for another hug.

She hugs me back and we don't pull apart as she says, "What do I do, Calum?"

"I don't know, Grace, but it's going to be okay. Don't worry."

She pulls away and looks into my eyes, "No, it won't be okay. I can't live with never seeing you, but if I want to see you then we have to break up. Plus, there's Mikey and Ash to think about. I'd never see them. And, I was gonna tour with you guys. Like, perform."

That was the first I'd heard of that, "What? You are? That's so great!" I say and hug her.

She doesn't return it and pulls away, "No, because that means I have to break up with you, and I'm not doing that."

"I don't want to be what holds you back, Grace. This is an amazing opportunity, you could develop a huge fan base. Ten times the amount you have right now."

"Yea, but it's like you said, am I just supposed to pretend like nothing ever happened? Act as if your my brother and have never or would never be anything else? I can't do that, Cal. If he is really going to make me leave if I don't break up with you, I'm leaving."

I sigh and grab her hand. I lead her over to the couch and sit down, "Listen, Grace, I love you." I say and wait for he reaction. Her eyes immediately go wide and she smiles, causing me to smile as well.

"You do?"

"Yes, I do. And I don't want to be the reason why you were held back."

"But, I already have fans, I don't need more. I don't care about fame anymore. It was great at first, but it doesn't matter to me now. My fans aren't going to leave me because I stop touring with 5sos. I have them and, right now, I have you and I'm not going to lose that."

"Please, Grace, just really think about what you want to do. I don't want to lose you, but I don't want to keep you from chasing your dreams."

"I don't need to think about it, if he says I have to leave, I'm leaving."

I nod my head and she gets in my lap, just like she did when we spent our night together. "I love you, Calum."

I kiss her head, "I love you too."

After a couple minutes, I say, "Hey, we better get up and go talk to Luke."

She nods her head and we walk hand-in-hand to Luke's room. We don't bother knocking, just walk in. He's laying on his bed, listening to music. When he sees us, he takes out his headphones and raises his eyebrow, "So, what's your decision?"

"I'm not breaking up with Calum."

"And, if she goes, I go." I say. Grace whips her head in my direction. I grab her hand and nod as if to say, "it's ok."

"You're kidding me, right?" Luke asks and laughs. "And, where exactly will you go?"

"Actually, my friend has an apartment right next to your parents' house." I bluff.

"Okay, and how will you get to practices and the studio?"

"I said, if she goes,I go. That means I'm gone from the band as well."

"Calum, I-" Grace starts, but I cut her off.

"Worth it." I say and squeeze her hand.

"D*****" Luke mumbles under his breath. "Fine, Grace can stay and you can continue to date on one condition."

"What?" Grace and I ask in unison.

"Well, I lied. Two, actually. You will not be in each other's bedroom while the other is in there and there will be no 'you-know-what'. Gosh, I can't even say it to you. Your my sister for goodness sakes."

"Luke, you know me. You know I'm not going to do that. What's the second condition?" Grace says, and it's true. She would never do that until she's married.

Luke's eyes soften, "You have to tell me why you didn't tell me sooner."

Grace looks at me and I nod my head at her, allowing her to tell him.

"We didn't tell you because we figured you'd be really mad and would act exactly how you did. We just figured it'd be better for everyone if no one knew."

"Then, why did Michael know?" he asks with a sad look.

"Well, you know how we were home alone? He forgot his notebook with his lyrics and I was asleep on Calum's lap when he walked in."

Luke's eyes show a flash of anger when Grace mentions she was in my lap, but they calm down after a split second. He nods and tells us we can go. He grabs his headphones and we start to walk out. As I'm about to close the door, Luke calls, "Grace,"

She turns around, "Yea?"

"I wouldn't have made you leave." He says with a sad look.

"I know, Luke, it's okay. I love you."

"Love you too," he says and we walk out.

As soon as we are out, Grace gives me the biggest hug. I hold her against me until she let's go.

"Would you have really quit the band?"

"Of course." Then she does something totally unexpected, she slaps me. "What the f*** was that for?" I ask, rubbing my arm.

"For being an idiot! If you would've quit the band, I would've broken up with you. You know I'm only in this because you're a famous rock star." She winks and walks away.

I grab her hand and pull her close, "And where do you think you're going."

"Getting away from you of course!" She says with a big grin. I kiss her and when I pull away she says, "Definitely glad we don't have to sneak around to do that anymore."

I laugh and we walk into the kitchen. "So, how'd that go?" Ashton asks.

"Well," I say and kiss Grace.

They both laugh and Ash says, "Well, guess that's settled."

"Disgusting." Michael says and turns away.

I kiss Grace again and again and again.
