In the morning, a bit after Nina had woken up, Fabian showed up. He rang the doorbell, and Nina answered the door since no one else was awake. He came in quickly, and Nina closed the door.

"Eager to restart the mystery again?" Nina asked.

"No," Fabian responded. "I mean yeah. I mean-not yet. Not yet, not yet. I came to ask if there was any luck comforting Amber?"

"Wait...since when have you been interested in this love doctoring?"

"It's-it's not love doctoring," Fabian laughed. "She just needs to get back with Jerome. Trust me, it's only fair. Jerome needs someone. And that someone-" Fabian nodded his head towards Amber's room.

"Sorry, no luck," Nina sighed. "She said they could never get back together."

"What?! Well-well let me talk to her."

"Fabian, where did...Fabian go? You go talk to Jerome for a bit, and now you're trying to counsel them into getting back together. What happened?"

"It's just...Jerome told me some things, so I wanted to help. I know-love really isn't my specialty, but I'd rather help him than no one at all."

"That's sweet, Fabian."

"And then, maybe after Jerome and Amber, we could work on you and me?"

Nina opened her mouth to say something but hesitated. Then she said, "You know what; let's not rush anything. Who's to say we're ever getting back together?"

Fabian looked a bit heartbroken.

"N-no, Fabian. Just-"

"-I'm going to see Jerome. Enjoy your mystery." Fabian left the apartment.

Nina sighed. She didn't want anymore drama to go on, but she seemed to naturally stir it up. She didn't mean to say that; it just came out.

Eddie woke up before Patricia, but stayed in the bed for a bit. He thought more that recent vision he and Nina had. As he did, he didn't notice Patricia waking up when she did until she let out a yawn.

"What're you thinking about, Weasel?"

"Still with the childish names?"

"You're guilty of it too. You called me Yacker two days ago."

Eddie laughed. "Ok, ok. I should get down to Nina's place soon. The sooner this mystery is over, the sooner I can spend more time with my one and only Yacker."

"Very cute," Patricia said sarcastically as she sat up, "but aren't you forgetting something?"

Eddie sat up too. "It's not your birthday yet, is it?"

"A check up, Eddie. For the baby. You know, the one growing inside me that you and I made?"

"Right, I'm driving you to the hospital. You know, why can't this thing just pop out already? It kills not being able to see him yet."

"Or her," Patricia pointed out. "And stop whining. You're not the one with it inside you, now are you?"

"Touché."

Eddie ended up telling Nina they couldn't meet as soon as planned since he had baby-matters to handle. He took Patricia to the hospital for the scheduled appointment time, and they soon went to the room.

Their OB/GYN came into the room. "Hello again, Mr. and Mrs. Sweet. It's just about the end of your first trimester. How've you been holding up?"

"Better than expected," Patricia replied.

"Well, I'll just run exams on the baby, and I'm sure today, we'll be able to determine the sex of the baby! Exciting, right? You two just give it thought whether you'd like to know or not; I'll be back with Dr. Collins to run the tests."

She left for a bit, and Eddie remained sitting by Patricia's bed.

"Do you want to know the baby's gender?" Eddie asked.

"Absolutely not. Let it be a surprise."

"But if we're told today, it'll still, technically be a surprise. Not when it comes out, but we won't know until we're told, right?"

"We won't be told until it's born, alright?"

"Yes, ma'am," Eddie mumbled.

"What was that?"

"Nothing dear," Eddie lied sarcastically.

The tests were run, and Patricia was questioned about her recent habits to ensure everything was on point. Finally, the question came.

"Would you like to know what you're baby is going to be?"

"No," Eddie shook his head. "We'll wait."

"Alright. Well, it seems your check upside concluded. Everything looks fine, and the baby's growing well. See you two again soon."

Eddie helped Patricia out of the bed, and they went to the car. Eddie buckled up, started up the car, and drove out the parking lot. They planned to go straight to Nina's place.

As they drove, Patricia asked, "So, how do you feel about Amber's secret?"

"It was a horrible thing," Eddie responded as he made a left turn.

"It was a total lie."

"Who gave you that idea?"

"Come on, Eddie. We've known her for years, me even longer. She may like dudes, but she's no cheater. It was just a cover up."

"Why would she make a cover up that ruined her relationship?"

"To stay in Sibuna, duh. It was stupid, yes, but definitely a mistake on her part to come up with a lie like that."

"Where you so interested?"

Because I care about my friends," Patricia admitted. "Gosh, you people have to stop thinking I'm so heartless. Deep down, I'm an angel."

"Yeah, and I found the cure for cancer," Eddie laughed.

"I'm just kidding you," Patricia sighed. "But I do care."

"I believe that, I guess. What do you say, we make a bet? Since I'm convince Amber isn't lying, but you think she is, let's find out which one of us are correct. Loser-"

"-loser has to walk home from Nina's place."

"Piece of cake," Eddie mocked.

"That is until you realize how long it takes to walk vs drive."

"You're on."

~~~~~
Ah, the dramatic irony of knowing Eddie will lose this bet.
Anyways...
