The next day, after a whole day of just relaxing, they returned to the mystery. Nina and Amber called the Sibuna gang over, and the last person Nina called was Fabian.

"Hey, are you going to help Sibuna, or what?" Nina asked, overjoyed.

"What?"

"We're working on a mystery, so..."

"I-I can't. I'm really sorry Nina-"

"-why?"

"If you can recall, I can't do this mystery thing anymore. I'm really sorry, but-"

Nina hung up on him, skipping out on the explanation. She lost her smile and placed her phone in her pocket, now just waiting for everyone to arrive. Amber informed Nina that Joy nor Willow could show, but all the others did. Alfie, Jerome, Eddie, and Patricia came, not necessarily in that order.

"Back to the past?" Eddie questioned.

"Yeah," Nina sighed. "Anyone up for replacing Joy?"

"Why don't we all go this time?" Alfie asked. "I was kind of curious what happened last time."

"I'll stay here for...safety reasons," William claimed.

"Yeah, that's probably best," Nina agreed. "Patricia, are you alright with going?"

"I'm pregnant, not frail."

"Alright then."

Nina opened the portal with her locket. Everyone stepped through, except for William, and felt themselves tossed through time which felt as though they dissolved into a million tiny pieces and reformed on the other side. Time travel was also a cold process, but only for a split second.

Nina landed on the ground. It was muddy and wet as though it'd just rained. She looked around in the darkness, barely able to see anything.

"Hello?! Guys?!" she called out.

"Ew!" She heard a squeal. She heard Amber's squeal.

"Amber?"

Amber stood up a few yards away. Nina's eyes adjusted to the dim lighting as she stood up and finally saw Amber. Nina made her way over to her.

"I landed in mud, and now these clothes are dirty," Amber pouted. "This was expens-wait. These aren't even my clothes...Explain."

"I guess my locket changed our clothes this time."

"My clothes better come back when we go back through the portal. All my clothes are expensive."

Nina agreed to that, knowing Amber well enough to justify it. Her focus was switched to finding out where they were and why the others weren't there with her and Amber.

There were plenty of trees in the area, but less than a mile away were many lights and faint music playing. It seemed like some celebration was going on, and Nina would find out what.

She grabbed Amber's hand, since Amber was still standing there pouting about not knowing the location of her clothes, and pulled her along towards the event.

Eddie and Jerome found themselves in some building, backstage and dressed in suits with hats and canes. On the stage were some band-instrument players along with a male singer.

"Are we supposed to perform something?" Eddie whispered to Jerome.

"It looks like it."

Just as Jerome said that, some man in nice, antique clothing told them they were up next. That answered their question. Jerome and Eddie peaked around the curtain, seeing an audience immersed in the current performance.

"What exactly are we doing?" Eddie asked, before the guy left.

"Singing, of course. You and your buddy signed up for this thing here, so sing what you'd like and the band will follow."

"And, where are we exactly?"

"At the carnival. You got amnesia or something, kid?"

"N-no. Thanks." Eddie faced back to Jerome. He didn't know how or why time travel could have supposedly caused them to sign up for this, but he figured it was just a way for them to blend in with time. "Can you sing?"

"My vocals are death pipes."

"This is bad...We have to sing something. We're the next act, and supposedly we signed up here at the carnival. So, what song? I don't know songs from this time!"

Jerome tried to think of something quickly. "We should just bail. Just get out, right now."

The act had finished up and the stage was set for them as the audience applauded. They were pushed out onto stage and awkwardly made their ways to the two microphones.

They glanced at eachother and looked at the audience staring at them, waiting for them to begin.

~~~~~
Patricia and Alfie found themselves inside a tent where plenty of people were lined up. Patricia looked down at what she was wearing, seeing it was a gold, sparkling dress. She nearly barfed.
Alfie laughed at her. She glared back, making Alfie shush.
Alfie suddenly realized everyone was lined up towards them, waiting behind a velvet rope. There was a table and a chair next to them. On the front of the table were the words. 'Palm Reading'.
"We're psychics!" Alfie exclaimed, just above a whisper so the people lined up wouldn't hear.
"What?" Patricia looked at him as though he was crazy.
"Just go with it. Unlatch the rope and stand over there. I've got this."
"You can palm read?"
"As of today, the Amazing Alfredo is a professional palm reader; now let's get this show on the road!"
Patricia rolled her eyes and went to the rope. She faked a smile at the first person in line and unmatched the rope. She stood there as people went to Alfie, thinking he was some sort of magician.
Patricia sighed and shook her head.
~~~~~
That's the end of this chapter! Nina and Amber are now easing towards he Carnival, Eddie and Jerome have to sing something for an audience, and Alfie and Patricia are running a corrupt palm reading business...Just another Tuesday.

Anyways...

What do you think Eddie and Jerome will end up singing?

I'm very interested to see what I come up with...
