Nina sat outside on a bench where the temperature in the air was slowly dropping as afternoon transitioned to evening. She kept wiping any tears away that tried to come down.

Back inside the restaurant, Fabian, Eddie, Patricia, and Amber stood up.

"What did you say?" Amber interrogated, angry at Fabian.

"Nothing meant to make her cry," Fabian defended.

Amber rolled her eyes and hurried outside where Nina was. Fabian followed, then Eddie, and finally Patricia trailed along. They found her on the bench, cupping her elbows in her hands.

"Nina?" Amber uttered.

Nina didn't look up, but she did begin to cry harder. Amber sat down beside her and embraced her in a hug. Eddie rubbed her on the back. That's when Fabian turned, slowly beginning to walk away, until Patricia called him out, "Dude. You're not going anywhere yet."

Fabian felt himself get yanked back by Patricia.

Patricia whispered to him, "While they're comforting Nina, I'm going to be talking to you. This has been two years of Nina's life. Now, this may sound outrageous, but I actually care about those closest to me, and Nina is one of my best friends. So, you're not going anywhere until she's stopped crying. If you try to leave sooner, I'll stab you."

Since Patricia was the truly frightening one, Fabian nodded and stayed. He awkwardly knelt down by Nina and took one of her hands from her hug to slip it into his own hands. Nina looked at him and pulled away from Amber entirely. Amber stood up, allowing Fabian to get up and sit down by Nina.

Nina pulled her hand away.

Looking down, Fabian admitted, "You know Nina, I'm really not proud of what I did. Because seeing you cry makes me want to do anything just to not make you cry. I want to see your beautiful smile again. But I was stupid. I made the dumbest mistake of my life, and I can't take it back."

Nina kept staring downward.

"Do you want to go home?" Fabian whispered. "I'll take you home. And tomorrow, you can hate me all you want."

Nina allowed Fabian to escort her to the car. Eddie, Patricia, and Amber stayed back a bit to pay for the meals and then went to Nina's apartment in Eddie's car. They dropped Amber off and planned to go home themselves.

"Make sure she's alright," Eddie told Amber before she got out the car.

Amber promised to and then headed towards the apartments. She used the key given to her to get inside where she saw William sitting on the couch and saw Nina's bedroom door propped open. She peeked inside, seeing Fabian and Nina sitting down, Nina's head on Fabian's chest, and Fabian holding Nina in her arms. Amber wasn't sure if they were awake or not, but it would be odd for them to be sleeping while sitting upright.

She tiptoed out the room.

"Wow," she mouthed to William.

"I'm guessing this wasn't expected," William whispered, knowing not to disturb Fabian or Nina.

Amber sat down. "Far from expected."

"Did she ever tell you about the...you know, our...-"

"-kiss? She may have mentioned it. You don't have feelings for her, do you?"

William didn't answer and Amber grew suspicious.

"You, you can't!" Amber scream-whispered. "Remember how old you actually are. And how young Nina is compared to that. And the fact that she's in her room with Fabian right now."

"I get it. I won't let my feelings get the best of me."

"Good, because Nina doesn't need anymore drama in her life. Good night, William." With that, Amber stood and went to her room.

William stood up and slowly went to Nina's room where he peeped inside to see Fabian and Nina. They didn't notice he was there. He left them alone and went to get some sleep, trying not to care.

The next morning, Nina woke up on Fabian's chest and sat up quickly as she remembered the previous night. She went to her mirror to see dried tears on her cheeks and pinkish-red eyes. Fabian woke up, and Nina quickly turned to face him.

Fabian stood up and said, "Don't kill me. I'll leave if you want me to."

Nina went over to Fabian, and Fabian braced himself for some injury that may come to him, but it never did. In fact, all Nina did was look at him and whisper the words: "Thank you."

That's the end of this chapter. I'll have to get back to the mystery at hand, but Fabina looks like it has a chance!
