Nina's meeting with Fabian was planned to be some time soon, but not right away. Days passed with Amber and William staying in Nina's apartment. In Nina's room, Amber and Nina were sitting on Nina's bed, their legs dent down over the edge of the bed.
Amber flopped backwards, staring up at the ceiling and Nina did the same.
"I can't believe William is over one hundred," Amber claimed. "I mean, I believe it since we know all about the elixir and stuff, but it's a shame. You two could've had something, you know, after you settled issues with Fabian."
"I kissed him," Nina blurted out.
"What?!" Amber squealed, sitting back up.
Nina got up on her elbows but didn't sit all the way up. "He was there, I was there, and it just happened in the moment. It was before I knew he was one hundred, by the way."
"What did he say?"
"I hurried away before he could say anything. But I apologized."
"Oh my god," Amber gasped, "I've come back to England in time for all the serious drama. Why does this happen to me?"
"Because you're Amber Millington," Nina responded jokingly. "You can't deny that you love it."
"I really can't."
Later that night, Amber went to her guest room to get some sleep. Nina checked on William before getting some sleep herself. Before falling asleep, she lied awake, staring at the ceiling in the darkness. She'd soon have to go speak with Fabian; little did she know how that'd turn out. She told Amber she kissed William. And she had Williams's whole story to contemplate like she'd been doing for the past few days.
He was affiliated with Sarah, Rufus, and Victor. He wasn't necessarily the bad guy in the situation, but he knew them personally. And there things he hadn't even told Nina yet.
As of the moment William found Nina's locket, Nina's kept it around her neck, and she was now twiddling her fingers over it.
Sometime in the midst of her deep thought, Nina fell into slumber. She had a normal dream this night; not some vision or anything of some sort for the Chosen One.
In the morning, it was sprung upon Nina that she'd be visiting Fabian. Jerome had arrived to transport her and Amber to Fabian's place. He lived in an apartment, not too far away, but still about thirty to thirty-five minutes away. Before the three of them left, Nina grabbed the engagement ring, in case anything about it would come up.
"William, stay here," she instructed. "Don't answer the door and don't leave this apartment. And have high hopes for me.
"Of course. Bye, Ms. Martin and friends," William farewelled.
~~~~~
They pulled up to the apartments Fabian stayed at. The three of them got out the car and headed towards the apartment building, planning to go up to the third floor where Fabian's apartment was. As they walked down the hall towards his door, Nina began feeling a bit sick. Amber and Jerome told her it'd all be fine as they continued until they made it to his door.Amber was about to knock until Nina held her hand back. "No. Not yet. I feel sick."
"Nina, it'll be fine. You'll be fine once he opens this door," Amber reassured.
"No, I mean I really feel sick."
Amber glanced at Jerome. "Jerome, please tell Nina there's nothing to worry about."
"You think I'm worrying, but I'm not," Nina pouted. "Please, I just-don't make me do this now."
"Push through it."
With that, amber knocked on the door, and they heard Fabian's footsteps. Nina was currently out of sight from the peep hole, so if Fabian looked out to see who it was before opening the door, he'd only see Amber, and possibly Jerome.
He opened the door, and Amber smiled, yanking Nina into view.
"Let's have a talk Fabian," Amber insisted.
~~~~~
Fabian had attempted to reject when they arrived, but Amber just pushed past him and settled everyone in. Nina sat on a chair, Fabian on another, and Amber and Jerome relaxed to the side on a couch, waiting for something to happen.Nina and Fabian sat there in still silence until Jerome said, "What a lovely conversation. It might be better if you actually say something to eachother...Go on."
"Two years, Fabian," Nina uttered. "It's been two years since you broke up with me. Two lonely years that we were supposed to spend together. Two years in which we were supposed to get married. And you have nothing to say?"
"What is there to say?" Fabian questioned after taking a deep breath. "I gave you my reason, and I'm very sorry, but I still stand by what I said. I don't know if you expected two years to change my mind b-"
"-I expect you tell me something, Fabian. I don't need you to explain what happened. I don't care what you think I'm expecting about your mindset. I'm just here to get closure."
"Ok. Nina, I cannot truthfully say that I have not thought about you several times since what happened. And I can't truthfully say I don't remember what we used to have, because I do. I most certainly do. But there's a time when the Chosen One affects your life, and it has, and that should be all the closure you need."
"You make it sound like it's my fault," Nina breathed, her voice containing more aggression.
"I'm not saying that. You're just the Chosen-"
"-I know what I am, Fabian; you don't have to keep bringing it up. Haven't you heard that love is supposed to conquer all? We could've worked something out. You seriously can't sit here and tell me it's because I'm the Chosen One and not want to smack yourself in the face!"
"You should go-"
"-gladly!" Nina exclaimed standing up. She was still feeling sick, but it didn't matter in this situation as the situation overwhelmed her with anger. "Amber, Jerome-I hope you're satisfied with this 'gaining closure'. I know I'm not. And Fabian-" Nina pulled the engagement ring out her pocket and threw it at Fabian, "-take your stupid ring back because it's nothing to me anymore!"
Nina marched to the door as Amber and Jerome stood up, along with Fabian.
"You can't just let this happen, Fabian!" Amber frowned.
"Nina?" Fabian tried to say.
Before leaving, Nina held back her tears that were on the verge on coming out, and glanced back to say, "Go to hell, Fabian."
With that she left the apartment.
~~~~~
Aw man. Fabina is terribly broken...or is it?I'm not giving any spoilers, but just know this isn't the end of Fabian and Nina's affiliations with eachother.
So, imagine if you were in Nina's shoes(or Fabian's if you prefer). How would you react in that situation?
Why do you think Nina felt sick? Was it because of Fabian, or something else?
