Guns and Numbers

chapter seven

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I got out of bed and made it. I then sent a little prayer to the heavens and then went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and had a shower. I dried up my body and applied lotion and wore my undies. For my first day I opted for a peach pant suit with a white lace bodice inside and my white pumps and I carried my white bag. Remember to match your shoes with your bag. It’s a must. I did my hair into a centre high bun and I gelled up my baby hairs and I put some mascara and plum lipstick. I looked good. I got my car keys and went downstairs to the parking lot. I drove my car to the office building.
I got some coffee and a bagel from the cart right in front of the building. I got inside the office building. The reception table had a new girl who I assumed was Lily. She was blonde and she had striking green eyes and she was in a white dress and a black jacket on top. She had on bright red lipstick and a smokey eye.
‘hey you must be Lily.’ I said approaching her.
‘yes and you are?’ she asked.
‘am Aqua.’ I said
‘you look like nothing I expected.’ She said.
‘and what did you expect?’ I asked raising my eyebrows.
‘a much better version of this obviously.’ She said.
‘well am sorry your dreams couldn’t come true princess. You can go back to sleep but I would advise you not to cause am going to be your nightmare if you don’t keep your snarky stupid remarks to yourself. Okay hunny?’ I said with a sarcastic smile.
‘whatever.’ She said rolling her eyes.
I am on a roll today. Not going to let anything get in my way or try to talk me down.
I went to the elevators and went to my floor. I reached there without any confrontations and i was surprised to find nobody there.
I went to my office and I looked at my phone incase I missed an important email as to where everybody is. Fortunately there wasn’t any.
I drunk my coffee and finished up my bagel. I put my bag on the desk and then I heard voices. I stood up and went  to the waiting room and I saw the boss and Carlos.
‘good morning.’ I said.
‘well you are early. Good morning.’ Carlos said.
‘whats so good about it?’ Celeste asked.
‘well definitely not your ass with the stick in it.’ I said. Okay maybe I should tone the roll down a little. I might end up getting fired on my first day.
He didn't look pleased with my response.
Carlos snickered and Celeste just looked at me. I smiled.
‘so what am I working on today?’ I asked.
‘you are going to look and cross check my previous accounting files. Bella will bring the files to you.’ Celeste said.
I smiled and went to my office.

CELESTE’S POINT OF VIEW
I was impressed with how punctual she was and her outfit? She looked great. The suit showed off her butt but am not so sure as to how big her assets are as she is not in revealing outfits. I went to my office with Carlos trailing behind me. I sat down on my chair and he sat opposite me.
‘you have no meetings this morning. In fact you have no meetings today but lots of contract viewing and signing. You just have a lot of paperwork.’ He said
Just great. I hate paperwork.
‘so she loves the apartment.’ He said.
‘who?’ I asked while opening a file that was on my desk.
‘Aqua.’ He said.
‘and how would you know that?’ I asked.
‘I went at her new place yesterday.’ He said.
Honestly I wasn’t exactly thrilled by that statement.
‘and why would you do that?’ I asked.
‘well, on Saturday she seemed too much of a loner and Brock, Luke and Candy were at her apartment and we helped her unpack. No photographs of family and literally no personal items. Heck, she had no pictures of herself when she was young. We asked her and she said she has no family and then indirectly asked us to leave.’ He said.
She is much more mysterious than I thought.
‘but she is a great cook. Kept some cookies for you to try.’ he said and nodded at some container that was on my bar.
I stood up and went to look at the container and opened it. I saw some cookies in there and I took a bite of one. I have a sweet tooth which I try to hide. The cookie was perfect.
‘the fact that you just took another bite shows that you like the cookie.’ He said.
‘don’t you have work to do?’ I asked.
He smiled and went out. I got to work while eating the cookies. She really is a good cook.
I was so into the work I almost couldn’t hear the knock.
‘come in’ I said.
The door opened and vanilla and pomegranate scent filled the room.
‘hey.’ She said.
I looked at her and she looked great having those files. Those are a lot of files.
‘so I looked at the files and so far these are the ones with problems. It seems like the accounting was done by somebody who didn’t know what he was doing.’ She said and gave me a knowing look. I rolled my eyes.
She came and sat down and she started showing me the errors which she marked with colourful highlights. I must say she is very good with her work and what she said made a lot of sense.
‘now lets start another topic. The embezzlement. It seems like somebody was stealing your money and did a very bad job of covering his tracks but since y’all are not buddies with numbers so it seemed cool to you guys.’ She said with a smile.
‘right I see.’ I said.
I will have Carlos and Javier look into it. They need to be dealt with and the thought just makes me excited like a child in a candy store.
