Laugh Now,Cry Later

I couldn't get up the next day. I think I've caught a cold. Ma Diane came upstairs since she didn't see me at all.
Seeing how pale and sick I look,she let me skip school and gave me drugs to subside it.

I just lay in bed all day,too tried to think of anything. My phone dings to Dawn's message.

Dawn; What happened? You missed school today,it's unlike you.

I took a deep breath, taking my duvet to my head and closing my eyes to sleep.
The memory of all what happened yesterday came back slowly. Walking from the bus stop in the rain is enough to catch a cold.
Another message appeared on my phone's screen.

Tatiana; Korah why weren't you in school? And you're not picking my calls. Please text me your address when you see this.

I peep over to the call box and saw ten missed calls from Tatiana. I don't think I want to see anyone right now,not with the way I look.

I reluctantly stood to take a walk to the playground at the back of the house.
I sat on one of the swings,reminiscing how we all played as kids and also how some got adopted to a good home.

I heard footsteps coming towards me, I turn to see who it is.
"Evan". I mutter.
He walk towards me,exposing his dimples with pride.
"Hey..Korah. what's wrong,you look dull". Evan said,seating on the swing beside me.
I tried to smile. "I'm not feeling too well".

"Oh..so sorry,how are you feeling? Since when?".

I press my lips together,looking down. "Yesterday,I actually skipped school today".
Evan look at me with sympathy. "Please get well soon. You don't look like the Korah I know.."

I giggle softly.

"Don't get me wrong,you still look breathtaking". He whispers.
"You should say that to yourself". I roll my eyes.

"I'm serious though,you should know that you are truly attractive".

I look at him and he looks away. If only Trevor can be a bit like his brother. "How did you know I live here". The question pop out of my mouth

"I did my research,trust me". He blush,kicking the sand as he rides slowly on the swing.

"Yep. I do trust you". I voice out. I just love how we get along.
"Korah.." Evan started,trying to avoid my gaze. "You see...I wasn't actually born rich".

I tilt my head in desperation but he just focus on looking at his shoes.

"I was adopted". He finally look at me for a reaction.
I open to mouth to say something but nothing came out.

Evan chuckles softly. "You are the first one to hear that,Korah. I didn't tell anyone".

I blink my eye,trying to process all what he just said.
"You..you were..adopted?".

"Yes,when I was seven".

"Wow. Umm...I'm surprised,really surprised. I mean..it's not obvious". I said,my eyes still focused on him.

"Let's just say I became used to it. It wasn't really easy to adjust but Trevor helped me". Evan elaborates,tucking his hands in his jacket.

I nod my head in affirmation,blowing out my cheeks as I take in everything he said. If he doesn't tell me,I wouldn't even notice. Evan is flawless for anyone to believe he was actually adopted.

"It's a bit chilly out here". Evan stood,taking off his jacket and waving it around my me, tapping me shoulders as he smile brightly.
"Thanks Evan". I said in a low voice.

"Don't feel bad or anything that comes to you do so with pity. Some people would genuinely love you,like me". He said and I look at him like he knows how I've felt all my life.

I feel tempted to ask of Trevor but I wouldn't want to sound selfish,also not with how well Evan had always treated me.

"This is a nice playground". He cut his eyes from mine,staring around.

"Ma Diane always tries her best to make us happy in any way she can". I boost.

He nods. "I've missed playing with everyone, I'm partially sure they are all gown".

"And handsome like you". I completed and he laughs out loud.
"You are right though". Evan admits,still laughing.

"Thanks for coming around Evan". I said and he bows,making me crack up. "You are really funny".

"I'm not..but I'm glad I can at least,make you laugh".
"You hundred percent did". I flip my hair to one side.

Evan just stare at me with smiles.
"What?". I ask,noticing how lost he is without breaking eye contact.

"I'm sorry my brother isn't treating you well". He said with emotions in his voice.

I just look around,I honestly didn't want want to bring it up but Evan did.

And he still calls him his brother even though he was adopted.

"I know you like Trevor".
I press my lips,nodding slowly. I can't tell Evan to his face,I'd feel so bad.

He gulps,his smile dims. "I want you to know that he feels the same, even if he doesn't tell you".

My heart skips a bit like Trevor is here. "He told me to stay away, Evan". I pour out the most painful part of it.

"He said that for your safety".

I frown a bit. "My safety?"

Exactly what Trevor said.

"yes Korah,and you need to believe him". Evan supports,looking quite serious.
I let out a sigh. "Okay then,for my safety. Like anyone is going to hurt any of us if he admits to me how he feels".
Evan remains quiet like what I said is true.

"I'm afraid that's true". He said after hesitating.
I arch my brows in shock. "Who would want to hurt me because of Trevor?".

"So Korah Jokshan refused to pick my calls because she's with Evan Bingham". Dawn shouted from the back. I turn to see she and Tatiana walking from the gate.

I turn back to Evan who just smile at me then stroke my hair gently. "It's all going to be alright".

"Korah..what happened?". Tatiana asked me after taking a glance at Evan.
"I am not feeling too well". I answer shortly, my mind still hovering at me and Evan's conversation.

"Hi Evan". Dawn greeted, waving her hand and smiling to him.
"Hey Dawn". He greeted.

Tatiana blows out her cheeks. I have a feeling she's not happy to see Evan here.
"Actress Tatiana". Evan calls,giggling.
"I'm glad you already know that". Tatiana shrugs, blushing.

"Korah". I look over my shoulders to see Bernard coming.
"Is that Bernard?". Tatiana asked,whispering in my ears.
I gave a small smile,nodding

"Woah,you didn't tell me he's this hot". She comments.
I look at her,raising my brows.
"Wow...". Dawn dragged,her eyes fixed on Bernard.

I used the little strength in me to meet Bernard, tucking my hand in his.
"So..guys..this is Bernard Noah, we grew up together. And Bernard, this is Dawn Dion,Tatiana Asshur and Evan Bingham".

"Bingham? Trevor's brother?". He asks and I nod swiftly.

They all greeted each other with Dawn and Tatiana sticking around Bernard. If there is something called true bliss,I must say I experienced it today. Even if its just for sometime...
