Road runner #2

It was a beautiful and crisp Winter day. You put the fire on and sat down with your favourite book and a nice cup of hot chocolate. You put it to your mouth, but before you could take a sip, you heard a banging at the door.

"Who could that be?" You murmured to yourself as you unwillingly opened up. It was your bestie, Road runner.

 "Oh, road runner! I wasn't expecting to see you. What are you doing here? " you smiled at the blue bird, trying to hide your disappointment at the fact he had pretty much ruined your comfy afternoon.

"Meep meep meep meep!" He exclaimed excitedly. (Translastion: (y/n)! I was just wondering, would you like to come ice skating with me? )

You paused for a moment and tried to think of an excuse on the spot. "Oh, uh, I can't, I don't have any skates, see?" You laughed weakly at your own lame excuse.

"(oh, that's no problem! I brought you a pair!" ) he smiled widely, thinking he was doing you a favour.

You cringed as you realised you had no choice now. "Alright, let's go"

"(What's wrong? Do you not want to come with me?" ) he asked with a hurt look on his adorable face.

"Oh no, I want to come" you lied as you hurried out the door to try and get it over and done with.

He took you to a frozen lake, not far from your house where there was quite a few people already there, laughing and smiling and enjoying themselves.

"(woo hoo! Race you there!" ) he cried as he ran over to the ice and started skating beautifully. He was so fast and fearless on the ice.

"That's great, but I think I'll just sit here" you responded as you say down on a bench. " Ooh, that's cold! " you cried as you jumped suddenly up from the frozen cold bench.

"(y/n) ?" He approached you and you looked nervously to your side.

"Yeah?" You said weakly.

( " Is there something wrong? ")  he asked in a worried voice.

"Well no, not really, but, uh..." You knew there was no point in trying to hide it any longer.

("you don't know how to skate, do you? ")

"No" you confessed, your face turning red from embarrassment.

( "Well that's no problem at all! ") he said cheerfully.

"It's not?" You looked up at his pleasant face.

("No! I'll show you how to! Come on! ") he held his wing out for you to take hold of. Why was this bird so sweet?

"Thanks!" You felt touched at his offer and so accepted it and grabbed his wing. He started skating slowly, just so you wouldn't fall.

( "See? Your getting the hang of it now!" ) he said as you both softly glided across the ice.

"Hey! You're right! I am!" You laughed as you realised what you were doing. "Let go of my hand"

( "What?" )

"I said let go of my hand. I want to try this for myself"

( "Sure?")

" Positive "

( "If you insist") he slowly let go of your hand and let you skate on your own. You seemed to be getting the hang of it. You were skating slowly, but that was still skating. Only problem was that you were no use against corners and tried to stop but it was no use. Crash! Was the sound you made when you hit a tree on the other side.

( "Y/n!" ) he shrieked loudly and rushed over to you at a speed that would make Speedy Gonzales throw up his lunch.

"I-i'm alright. I think" you said as you rubbed your sore head.

( "Maybe that wasn't the best idea" ) he muttered but stopped when he caught sight of something.

"Road runner? What is it? " you asked, wondering what he was focusing his attention on.

( "Look") he pointed up. Hanging from a branch directly above you two was a piece of mistletoe. You knew what that meant.

You both looked at each other with red cheeks before you both followed suite and kissed.

" you owe me a gift now" you chuckled as you both pulled away.
