Road runner #4

You sat out there in the warm desert. Day was turning to night and it was starting to grow cold. That didn't bother you though, considering you were half android. You watched a tumbleweed roll by and you sighed. You tried to find your way in this cold, harsh, unforgiving world, but people couldn't look past your robot exterior. You looked up and the whole place was dead, until you saw someone. It was a road runner and a coyote and the road runner looked like he was running away from the coyote. You weren't particularly rooting for any side, but then it happened. As the young bird was speeding along the road, he suddenly went flying up in the air.

You gasped and day up from the rock you were sitting on. He was now hanging upside down like piece of meat, but you then noticed it was because there was something around his ankle. It was a rope. That was when you both realised he was caught in a trap. The coyote came running at top speed, clapping his paws and smiling widely and lowered him down from the trap, tied him up further and lifted him home on his back. You put your hand to your mouth in astonishment as you realised the coyote meant to eat him. You couldn't just back and watch this happen, you had to act fast.

As he strolled home, looking pleased with himself, you followed up close behind him, making sure he didn't notice you. It was getting dark so that made it easier to sneak. You stopped when he finally came to his house. It was more like a cave, but you ran to the back door and waited.

You watched him through the window as he untied the poor, unsuspecting creature and threw him in a cage and locked him up.

 "Oh, I can't believe I actually caught road runner!" He cried in delight. "I wonder what I'll do with him exactly? Road runner drumsticks? Kebabs? Oh, wait, I know just exactly what I'm make! A nice roast! Now where's that cook book?" He pondered before leaving the room to try and find the book. Now was your chance. You took out a hairpin and picked the lock and quietly let yourself in. The road runner was just sitting there, looking miserable all by himself, when you approached him. He was startled at first and was going to make noise, but you shushed him and picked the lock to set him free.

He could've cried for happiness and gave you a great big hug. You didn't exactly understand human emotion, but gave him one back. You quickly opened and closed the door and left with the bird.

Once you were both a safe distance away, he spoke up.

 "Meep, meep meep meep!" It was no use. he was speaking his own language, but lucky you had a translator device to understand him. 

 "Thank you so much for saving me! I would've been a roast beast if it hadn't been for you"

You smiled warmly. "Well you're welcome, little guy, anything I could do to help" you could tell this would be the start of an everlasting bond.

 "Say, when will it happen?" He asked.

 " Oh, I'd say right about...now"

Meanwhile... "Alright, I've found the book, prepare to be properly seasoned! Wait, where is he?" Wile E asked himself as he opened the cage and frantically searched. "What's thi...ouch!" He cried in pain as the scorpion you left him jumped up and pinched him on the nose.

You and road runner sat there laughing to yourselves at what that idiot had brought upon himself now.
