IT HAD BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS SINCE I first stumbled upon the coven, but my curiosity had only grown stronger. Alana's reaction to my question about Ethan's father had only fueled my desire to know more about them. What secrets were they hiding? What had happened to Ethan's father? Was he a monster like my own useless father, or had he died tragically, leaving Alana to pick up the pieces?

I knew I had to find out more, and my first step was to seek out the leader, Gabriel. As I wandered through the sprawling mansion, I couldn't help but marvel at its grandeur. It was the kind of place that would have been the talk of the town in Forks, with all the high school students clamouring to get in for a party. But here, in this mysterious coven, it was just another day.

As I roamed the halls, my eyes fell upon a painting hanging on the wall. It was a striking image of a group of eight, all dressed in varying shades of black and standing against a dark grey background. Their red eyes glinted in the light, reminding me of the newborns and Victoria from my past. But there was something different about these figures, something that drew me in and held my attention.

As I studied the painting, I felt a sense of awe and wonder wash over me. It was like I was seeing the world through the eyes of a child again, marvelling at the beauty and mystery of the world around me. And as I gazed at the faces of the eight figures, I knew that I had to learn more about them, about their secrets and their past. For in this coven, I sensed a power and a magic that was beyond anything I had ever known before.

Suddenly, it hit me like a ton of bricks. The realisation dawned on me, and my mind raced with questions. Gabriel and the Volturi guards were in the painting, two of whom I remembered the names of - Felix and Jane. They were the ones who had killed Bree, the ones who had spoken to Bella and the Cullens. Why did Gabriel have a painting of them hanging on the wall? What made them so special?

I took a deep breath, feeling nervous as I slowly backed away from the painting. Suddenly, a male voice spoke to me, causing me to jump. I turned around to see Gabriel, dressed in his black suit and shoes, with a warm smile on his pale face.

"Is everything okay?" he asked me.

I pointed to the painting, my voice shaking slightly. "I just came across this...this painting."

Gabriel's eyes followed my gesture, and his smile faded. He folded his arms and lowered his gaze to the ground, clearly lost in thought. He must have known them.

"Violet," he began, his voice clear and steady. "I know you've only been here for a few days, but I already consider you a member of the family. I think I should tell you about them. I was a member, but what I was then pales in comparison to what I am now."

I felt unsure about what he meant, but I nodded, eager to learn more. "Okay. So, what exactly are they?"

Gabriel took a deep breath and began to explain. "They are called The Volturi. The largest and most powerful coven of vampires. They enforce the laws of the vampire world."

As I listened to Gabriel speak of their power, I couldn't help but be intrigued. "But how do they maintain order?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

"Ah, the Volturi have established a set of laws that all vampires must abide by," he replied. "These laws are not written down, for to do so would be a grave infraction. Instead, they are passed down from vampire to vampire, through word of mouth."

I was surprised. "Vampires have laws?" I admitted. "I had no idea. Victoria never told me anything about that, except for the obvious ones like not going out in daylight or drawing attention to ourselves."

Gabriel nodded. "Those are part of the laws, but there is much more to it than that. Unfortunately, Victoria failed to educate you on the matter."

I was curious about how Gabriel had become a part of this world. "So, how did you become a part of the Volturi?" I asked.
