I could just stare at what is happening, silent.
Nighty materialized next to me, stretching a bit. "Dang, it's been way too long since-", he mumbled before getting cut off. He looked around, frowning. "Where... Are they?", he eventually asked. "I... I don't know!", I replied and ran out of the office, looking everywhere. He followed me closely, looking as well so this goes a bit faster.
Eventually we got to the lobby and saw what happened.
Entity was indeed here, but...
Hero and Entity were sitting on the ground, hugging each other. Hero was strangely calm, hugging Entity gently. The other man seemed to be crying into his shoulder, judging by him having a slight hiccup and the quiet sobbing emerging from him. Hero held him really close, not letting go so soon.
A red and white sword was lying nearby on the ground. Definitely Entity's.
I spent good 5 minutes staring at the two before turning to Nightmare. He was busy cleaning his claws a bit, soon noticing my stare and glancing up at me. "Yes?", he asked calmly. "How are you not surprised?", I quietly asked, shocked. He shrugged a bit, lowering his hands into his pockets. "I dunno. Were they supposed to do something else?"
"Yeah! We all thought Entity would kill us!", I explained. Nightmare tilted his head. "Oh. Makes sense.", was the only reply he gave tho, followed by a sigh. "Not everyone follows expectations, Notch. Especially not Entity."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Let's just say we used to be... Teammates."
I looked at him surprised. "Huh?" He sighed and went back to cleaning his claws. "Those times are over. We got into an argument and broke apart.", he admitted, signaling that this conversation is over.
I nodded slowly and glanced over to Entity and Hero, who were still hugging each other.
Steve slowly made his way over to them, really careful and worried. Entity didn't move a muscle tho, he just tightened his grip on Hero. Steve crouched down next to them, hugging the two males. Hero smiled and hugged him as well. Entity however only clung to Hero, whimpering weakly.
I looked back at Nightmare, noticing that he watched the three very closely. He wasn't just cleaning his claws. He was just using that as a cover to keep an eye on them.
Clever.
I leaned a bit against him, making his attention turn to me. It required me to hug him before he understood what I meant, embracing me too. I put my head on his chest, slowly relaxing and closing my eyes again.
He stayed still for me, gently rubbing over my head. His claws didn't even hurt me.

After a few hours we managed to get Entity into the living area. He was now sitting on the couch, sipping some tea and curled up tightly under a blanket. Hero sat beside him, caressing his hair. Entity leaned against him a bit, staring at his tea.
Nightmare and I were nearby on the other couch, watching. I was lying halfway on his lap, my head on his legs, arms crossed underneath me. The rest of my body was on the couch, covered by a blanket.
Steve and Jeb were there as well, close to Entity.
I glanced up to Nighty when he stopped petting me, resting his hand on my cheek. He stared at the ceiling, deep in thoughts. I raised my hand and touched his shoulder. "Hey, what's wrong?", I asked softly. He looked down at me, surprised. "Uh, nothing. Just kinda was thinking about some stuff.", he explained calmly, sighing. I frowned. "What did you think about?", I continued. He raised an eyebrow, confused.
"Uh... Nothing special, honestly."
"If it wasn't that special, you wouldn't be thinking so much."
"I guess you're right about that..."
"Well then, what is it?"
He hesitated for a while before glancing away. "Uh... Just been thinking about if that whole thing would work out as a family...", he finally admitted. I tilted my head. "You want a full family?", I asked again, just to make sure. He nodded a bit, unsure. "I definitely wouldn't mind finally having one. I had none after all.", he explained. "Really? Why didn't you have one?"
"They got killed in a fire, so did I..."
I fell silent, surprised. "Wait what...?", was my only question. "Why didn't you tell me?" "I saw no reason in that. I wanted to take care of you and you alone, without getting my struggles and troubles in the way, Notch.", he replied calmly. I frowned and sat up, eyeing him. "You know, that's important to me too.", I told him, frowning. He glanced away, sighing. "Notch, I'm fine."
"You're not, Nightmare."
"I am."
"You're not. Spill the beans, tell me what's really up."
"Notch-", he tried to defend himself, but I only put my hands on his cheeks. "Nightmare, don't lie to me. You don't want the person you take care of to make the same mistake.", I calmly explained.
Nightmare stared at me for quite the while, seemingly the walls around him were cracking. Before they fully broke tho, he grabbed my wrists gently and removed my hands from his cheeks, looking away almost emptily. "Not here, not now.", was the only thing he mumbled before getting up. "I'll be back later." He left the room and I helplessly looked over to Hero, who shrugged weakly, not knowing what to do either.
I sighed softly and stared at the ground. "Give him some time, it'll be fine.", Hero told me. I nodded a slight bit, worried tho.
Did I go too far or something? Maybe I shouldn't ask him so many questions... He seemed a bit uneasy after my attempt to cheer him up so he'll tell me, but now... I'm unsure if it wasn't just hate.
Then again, I'm sure he wouldn't hate me that easily! We just met and he immediately took me into his arms like a son, so I doubt he'd despise me for some questions.
But I'm not too sure...
