Mina
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours. Hours became days as days became weeks and finally, the day we are all waiting for has now came
It's now exactly two weeks after my cornea transplant and now is the time for us to know if the transplant succeeded or failed
My heart is pounding so hard as the doctor slowly and carefully removes the gauge and the eye pad that covers my eyes until everything on it was all gone
"You may now open your eyes, ma'am..slowly and carefully..."
Hearing the doctor's instruction scared me. What if the surgery didn't turned out what we all expected? What if it didn't actually worked? What if that scary darkness welcomed me again the moment I open my eyes?
"I-I don't think I can..I'm scared"
A soft warm hand gripped mine which somehow gives me courage.
"Don't be Mina. Everyone's here for you. We're all are waiting for you, Mina. You can do this.."
"But Somi—"
"Hush, I'm here okay? You can do this.."
I felt her soft lips pecked my hand which surprised me and made my cheeks hotter than they were before. Somi's actions confuses me lately but somehow, it gives me unexplainable comfort
"You can do this, Mina.."
I heard everyone cheering me up as Somi's hand still gently gripping mine and it calms me. Hearing everyone calms me especially feeling Somi's hands and I'm loving the feeling as well.
I released a deep sigh and slowly opened my eyes. I can feel my heart still pounding so loud. I'm nervous and scared at the same time but those nervousness and everything negative that I'm feeling earlier vanished as soon as I saw and recognized Somi's eyes looking straight into mine
"S-Somi—"
"Oh God, Mina.. Can you see me? Can you really see me?"
Tears ran down my face as I gently nodded. I began roaming my eyes around the room and there I saw everyone with smiles and tears on their faces.
The doctor excused himself and began asking some basic questions to me like what is the color of a certain thing he's showing to me and how many are they. I answered them all with tears on my face until the doctor smiled
"I'm so glad to see you looking straight to my eyes while talking to me, ma'am. Congratulations for having your eyesight back"
"Thank you so much.."
He smiled back at me again then start giving me do's and don'ts that I need to follow until my eyes had fully adjusted to everything. He also advised me to use eyeglasses for the meantime until I'm fully recovered. He congratulate me again after that before totally excusing himself out of the room
"Hey, sweetie.."
"M-mom.."
I cried again after seeing my mom and those signature moles that lies on her lovely face that I used to trace back when I was a little child
"Hush now, my child. Everything is good now and I'm so happy for you.."
"Mom—"
