Amelia's POV

I woke up to the sound of the shower running, Olivia must be back. When I looked at my phone, I realised it was 7am, I must have passed out. Cammy grumbled at me as I sat up. Three missed calls, all from Oscar. Why is he doing this to me? I want no part of any of this.

"Hey, you're awake. What happened to you last night, you never came to dinner. We were worried. When I got back here, you were already asleep,"

Olivia asked, sitting on her bed opposite me.

"I stayed late at the stables, then got lost trying to find my way back here."

She looked unconvinced, even though it was technically the truth, just not the whole truth.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure"

"Are soulmates real?" I was curious, I mean, I may have just broken apart two people destined to be together.

"Yeah, every shifter has one. A mate is the other half of your soul, your one true love."

"Do people ever cheat on their mates." She gave me a disgusted look, before answering, "It's rare, but it does happen. It's the worst thing anyone could do though, our connections to our mates are seriously strong. It's called a mate bond; it links the two together. It means that you can feel what the other is feeling, among other things. th... they feel it. When you cheat on your mate, your mate feels all of it. My mother told me it's like someone is stabbing you through the heart. There have even been cases where it's fatal."

I feel sick, that poor girl. He could have killed her; I could have killed her. I can't believe him, he's the worst human being. Or whatever the hell he is.

"Why did you want to know?"

"I met someone last night, who thought her mate was cheating on her." Again, not technically a lie. I feel awful keeping things from her, she's the first friend I've had in so long.

I showered and got ready, before we went for breakfast. Mason and Skye were already sitting at our table, waiting for us.

"Morning, Lia," Mason greeted me, as I sat beside him, a tray of food in my hands. I really need to stop skipping dinner.

"Morning, did I miss anything last night?" I said, as I took a bite of my omelette. Moaning slightly at the amazing taste filling my mouth. I heard them all laughing, and I felt my cheeks heat up.

"You didn't miss much, well apart from dumb and dumber freaking out about you," he joked.

Who? What is he talking about?

"Who freaked out?"

This time Skye answered my question, "Sam and Oscar. They kept asking us if we had seen you. Speaking of which, it looks like they have spotted you." She motioned behind me, turning, I saw Oscar staring straight at me. He looked so relieved, then he started to walk towards us.

"I better get going, I don't want to be late for class," I said, as I stood up.

I didn't want to talk to him, I don't think I could stop myself from punching him.

"What are you talking about? We still have ages until 1st hour," Mason argued. I stared at him, my eyes begging him to let me leave.

"I'll walk with you, don't want you getting lost again." I grabbed his hand and all but pulled him out of the dining hall, ignoring Oscar calling after me.

By the end of the day, I had managed to avoid Oscar and Sam completely. I felt guilty for ignoring Sam too, but he's his best friend. There's no way he didn't know he had a mate this whole time. I was just leaving the stables, only this time I wasn't alone. Olivia had insisted she walk me to the dining hall, so I didn't get lost again. I was grateful to her, I still had absolutely no idea how to get around this maze of a school.
