Oscar's POV

Three days, that's how long I've been back at the pack. Three of the longest days of my life, I was worried about Amelia. Since I told the group the truth about her, Olivia had spent the whole time planning a way to fix everything. She's determined that there must be a reason, she thinks there's no way that she knew what she was doing when she rejected me. I've been arguing with her this whole time, Amelia knew I was her mate, she knew what she was doing. Didn't she? I was so sure of it but now I can't stop the glimmer of hope that was building inside of me. What if she's right, what if it was a mistake. I know I shouldn't let myself hope, if I'm wrong then it will mean feeling the pain of it all over again. But I couldn't help it, I wanted Olivia to be right and so did Xander. He's been trying to get to her ever since Olivia told us.

Today I would get my answer, today I would see my mate again. Today I would get my answer. The pack house was only a couple of hours from Amelia's, so we had decided to drive. I was in the passenger seat because Sam refused to let me drive as he was determined I was too anxious, and I would kill them all.

The whole drive has felt impossibly slow, why can't he speed up.

Fear, so much fear. Why am I afraid? I searched for danger but all I found was Liv and Skye chatting in the backseat and Mason staring at me, his face blank. I went to ask what was happening but Xander answered first.

Mate is afraid.

The growl that slipped from my lips wasn't mine, the car shook from the power of it. Everyone was silent.

Sam stuttered, his urge to submit to his alpha made him unable to look me in the eye, "Dude, what's wrong?"

"Not him, it's Amelia. She's in trouble, his wolf feels it," Mason thankfully answered for me, it was taking everything I had to stop Xander from destroying the car to get out. Sam swore and pushed down on the gas pedal; we were so close.

I got out of the car before it stopped and started towards the house but something in the woods caught my eye. Amelia, she was running towards us. Her eyes looked unfocused and she was screaming. You didn't have to be an empath to know she was terrified. She ran straight into me, as if she couldn't see me. I wrapped my arms around her, she was shaking so hard I was having trouble holding her in place.

"Amelia?" Nothing, she didn't even react to my voice.

Olivia gasped, "What happened? What's wrong with her?"

"I have no idea."

"She's having a panic attack. We need to get her inside," Mason urged. I looked towards him, his face was pale, I'm guessing he's feeling everything she is. I nodded at him and picked her up in my arms, the feeling of her hugging herself closer to my chest, calmed my wolf enough for me to think clearly.

"Sam, go check the woods. Make sure no-one's in there, something must have made her like this."

Amelia went limp in my arms, she passed out. What the hell made her like this, what scared her enough to have a panic attack and pass out. Placing her on the couch, I turned to my sister, she was crying. Skye had her arms around Liv, trying to console her as she sobbed. We all sat down, waiting for Amelia to wake up.

After a while of sitting in silence, Sam came running in, "No-one's out there, but I smelt something off. I have no idea what it is, but it is definitely supernatural."

What the hell is happening, first rogues attack the pack, now Amelia's in danger. Why her? She's on her own here, she's harmless. What do they want with her?

"How's she doing?"

I checked on her, she was laying across the couch with her head in my lap. If I didn't know better, I would just think she's sleeping.

"She's okay, but she hasn't woken up yet." Sam seemed relieved at the news and went to sit on the other side of her.

Amelia's gasping had us all staring at her worriedly, she was trying to catch her breath. Suddenly her eyes opened, she stared straight at me, a small smile coming over her face. Sitting up, she turned to the whole group.

"What are you guys doing here?"

She sounded quieter than usual, but more like herself than when we first got here.

"We came to surprise you, you're our friend. You didn't think we would let you spend Christmas alone, did you," Olivia stated, as if it were obvious.

Amelia's eyes glistened with unshed tears as her smile got bigger.

"Thank you, I was going crazy in my solitude." The room went into silence as everyone avoided asking the one question, we all wanted to know, until Mason spoke up.

"What happened? You were terrified".
