Oscar's POV

The pack house was even crazier than normal, warriors were gathered in the kitchens. I watched as our head warrior, Thomas, talked with my father. From their expressions, I knew it was something bad. They were worried, the whole pack seemed on edge. Olivia and Skye went straight upstairs, they were excited about surprising Amelia. Sam was waiting with me, sensing the tension in the room as well.

"What's going on? This whole place feels afraid," Mason asked, looking uncomfortable. To be honest I forgot he was here. I never really thought about his ability before, the way he feels everything, I think it would drive me crazy.

"No idea, something bad though," Sam answered him.

I watched as my father finished his conversation and looked at me, he looked exhausted. His hair was a mess and he looked like he hadn't slept in days. Whatever was wrong, it was definitely bad. I have never seen him like this, it was as if he was beaten.

"Welcome back, son, can you and Sam meet me in my office, please." We both nodded at him, as he walked away.

As soon as we entered my father's office, my mother engulfed us in a hug. No matter what was happening, you could always count on my mother to be calm. She was made to be a Luna.

"I've missed you boys, how was school? How's your sister? Is she making friends?"

"Gemma," my father exclaimed, "we have more important issues." My mother glared at him.

"Thomas, calm down. We could have spared the five minutes it would've taken me to speak to my son." Never mess with a Luna, or your mate. The thought made my heart ache for Amelia, all I had ever wanted was what they had. A mate who would be my equal. A Luna, and now I would never have it.

"What's wrong? Why is the whole pack acting crazy?" Sam asked, obviously not liking the tension in the room. He has never been very good with tension.

"Rogues." Was all my father said, but that didn't make sense, rogues wouldn't make the whole pack be on edge. Rogues are shifters that have either been kicked out of their pack or left of their own free will. They are normally not too much of a problem, sometimes they attack packs or even humans but there's never more than a few of them.

"Rogues wouldn't make everyone this freaked," Sam murmured. More to himself but my father answered anyway.

"These rogues are not normal; they are not all shifters. They have vampires, fae, and power humans, maybe more. They are after something, though we have no idea what. They attacked the pack a few days ago, they didn't find whatever it was they were looking for and left. A lot of our warriors were wounded, but luckily we have had no fatalities. Word has spread throughout the pack, everyone is panicking." This doesn't make any sense; rogues do not team up. They don't take orders or follow instructions, and they are definitely not capable of all this. Someone must be controlling them.

"Do we know anything else? Where they are or what they were after?"

My mother shook her head and sat beside my father, helping his wolf calm down.

"No, we have trackers trying to follow but we think they are using the fae to cover their tracks."

"How can we help?" I asked.

"We need to keep everyone calm, and I want you to keep an eye on your sister." I nodded to him, and he dismissed us.

I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting Christmas. My pack had been attacked and all I can think about is Amelia, she's on her own. She is basically still a human, if someone or something attacks her, she's defenceless.

We have to protect our mate. My wolf growled.

She doesn't want us, remember? He whined and I instantly felt guilty. She was his mate too, and he never really even got the chance to fight for her. How did my life get to this point, I had waited for her my whole life and she had rejected me almost immediately?

You okay, dude? Sam mind-linked me.

Yeah, just thinking about Amelia.

He nodded at me, understanding, before he followed me to Olivia. My mate was on my mind and I wanted to know when we were seeing her. Her room was on the top floor of the pack house, all the alphas rooms were on the top level. The beta and gamma shared the third floor, and the pack hospital was on the second. Leaving the bottom for the kitchens and common areas.

"I don't understand why we can't just tell her," Sam argued for the twentieth time. For the last hour they had all been discussing our visit to Amelia. Sam wanted to tell her they were coming, Olivia and Skye wanted it to be a surprise.

"Because we are going to surprise her. So, no talking to her, we will go in a few days. That way we can spend Christmas there, but it has to be a surprise!" Olivia yelled, clearly frustrated. I can't blame her; they have had this conversation five times already.

"Fine, but it feels wrong to lie to her," Sam muttered. I knew why he was against it; she was still his Luna. Even if she didn't want to be with me, Sam's wolf considered her his Luna. The others however had no idea she was my mate, so they were confused by Sam's persistence.

"Is she your mate?" I froze, how did they know? Had she told them.

I was about to answer but I realised they weren't talking to me. Olivia was staring at Sam, who looked shell shocked.

"What? No, why would you think that," he stuttered. Sam is a horrible liar and my sister is extremely persistent. Not to mention the empath sitting next to him, Sam's screwed.

"OMG, she is!" Olivia screamed, jumping at Sam.

"Congratulations, you two are perfect for each other. Have you told her?"

She is not his mate. Xander was struggling to get to the surface, he wanted to kill Sam.

Dude, your eyes are changing, he urged through the mind link.

I tried to keep myself calm, tried to hold Xander back. Gripping the chair, I managed to block Xander off. I'm going to have a very pissed wolf later.

"What's happening? Why are you two freaking out?" Mason spoke up.

Stupid empaths. If you ask me, it's just rude to listen in on other people's emotions.

"Nothing, can we just drop it?" Sam begged.

They all went silent, the room filled with so much tension, you could have cut it with a knife.

Skye whispered, breaking the silence, "you...you're not going to reject her, are you?"

What do I say?

You shouldn't have to lie for me.

Taking a deep breath, I finally told them the truth, "Sam's not going to reject her, she isn't his mate. She's mine."

I waited for them to speak but nothing, all three of them were speechless, for my sister this was a first.

Olivia finally broke, "why... why didn't you tell me?" The hurt in her voice stabbed at my heart. I have never kept anything from my sister before, we have always been close.

"I wanted to give her time to adjust before I told her. And I thought the less people who knew, the better. I'm sorry, Liv, I suppose it doesn't really matter anymore."

"Why wouldn't it matter? You found your mate!"

"She rejected me."
