Chapter 7: The past

"Hey J?" She asks quietly

"Yeah, Kie?"

"Just checking your awake" She rolls over and looks at him smiling.

He puts his arms out signaling for a hug and she crawls over to we're he is laying.

"Common let's go to sleep" He says which makes her look away from him.

"I can't J. I can't take it anymore." She pleads scared that if she falls asleep the nightmare is going to happen again. It still hasn't happened.

"Kie. Is there anything else to the story that's keeping you awake that you haven't told me?" He asks. He was curious if she was that scared because there might be something else he doesn't know.

"J- Rafe didn't just look at me and this wasn't just a made up story. It actually happened. So after he looked down at me I tried to get away from him so I crawled out from under his arm. He grabbed my wrists and wouldn't let me go. He then covered my mouth with his hand. I was so confused but then he walked me into his room. I told him to let me go but he just pushed me against the door. I kept telling him to get off and then his hand went up my back to the strap of my bikini top. He untied it and i held onto the front with my free arm. He told me to choose the top of the bottom of my bikini. I slapped and kneed him and ran up to sarah's room. I didn't tell her anything and just said that I needed to go home and that's when I came back to the pogues and left the kook academy. Not even my parents know. No one knows."

"Son of a bitch" JJ is really mad, why wouldn't he be. He pulls her into a tight hug she shakes and cries unable to stop and he pulls her out, "I promise i'm never going to leave you alone with them. Any of those rich ass kooks. Kie you are the bravest most badass girl I know. The fact you haven't told anyone this proves how strong you are for holding this up inside." She wipes her tears and lays back down, JJ's arms wrap around her waist again and she holds them.

"I love you J." She says in one breath

She knows that this is all very new but it's true. She's known for a really long time and he has always been there for her. With Pope, after John B went missing, with her parents and now Rafe.

"I love you Kiara" He says back smiling. He doesn't care if it's to early to say I love you because in reality he means it. He really does love her. He knows how much they need each other and he has always wondered what life would be like if they were together and now, now that they are, Life already seems better. They both have been through so much that has broken them but they care about each other even more and they know that they are gonna get through it. They will be there. Always.

"Did JJ Maybank just say I love you?" She asks chuckling.

"Maybe." He says rolling her over so that he is facing her.

She kisses him and lays her head on his chest. She dozed off to sleep and JJ takes on last look at his best friend and now his girlfriend.

They have all woken up and are just eating some of the left over watermelon.

"So what's the plan?" Sarah asks

"I don't know" Pope replies

"Oh that's not good. Pope is the plan guy and he doesn't have a plan!" Kie said laughing

"Look let's do a recap, All I know is that John B and Sarah want the gold. Pope wants the cross, and me and Kie got nothing to loose and y'all are basically all we got so we're gonna help steal that shit back. Now we're on a unknown island and there might be a town and we could steal a boat and some gas and we find our way back to OBX on the GPS on the boat?"

"Are you serious?" John B scoffs in shock

"i said it once and I'll say it again. Maybe you are good for something." Kie laughs

"Look if we're gonna do this then we gotta do this now." Sarah adds on

"Alright let's go" JJ says as they all get up.

"We've been walking for like 2 hours there is obviously nothing here!" Sarah whined as John B was dragging her by her hand.

"Guys we can't give up now" Pops tries to encourage the group

"Guys! Guys! Is that a building?" Kie says pointing over east.

"Guys she's right" JJ adds while pulling Kie in and kissing her forehead.

"Let's go baby!" John B screams as they all begin to run over seeing more and more buildings.

They see about surrounded by 3 men.

"Look I have an idea. Kie and I will go over to them and ask them for directions and play dumb, while they're distracted you guys are gonna start the boat and drive off then we'll meet you back at the camp. Ok?"

Pope nods but John B and JJ still aren't sure.

JJ looks over at Kie and her head is down she looks up and give JJ a smile and a nod so he knows it's ok.

"Ok we'll be safe" JJ says as he kisses Kie's forehead

"I'll be so safe" Her and Sarah say at the same time which makes the rest of the group laugh.

"Don't worry guys we got this." Kie says as her and Sarah walk off over to the boat.

"You nervous?" Kie whispers to Sarah

"Oh i'm shitting bricks you?" Sarah asks her in the same tone

"Never been more terrified but like we said we got this!"Kie says reassuring her.

They walk over on the dock and wave at the group of men.

"Hello! Hi, uh we're lost and we were wondering if you could show us we're the nearest store is?" Sarah asks and then men get off the boat and walk over to them.

"What are you two doing on your own?" The first guy asks them

"Oh well me and my sister here-" She says putting her hand on Kie's shoulder as Kie gives them a wave.

"We ran out of gas on out boat and had to stop so we've been looking for someone to show us where we can buy some."

"Yeah right so um just over there-"

The man begins while JJ, Pope & John B get in the boat. JJ and Pope are lying on the ground so no one sees them. John B starts the boat and drives as fast as possible.

"Yo what the hell" The men yell as they notice their boat is gone.

They turn back around and see Kie and Sarah running off, they go after them.
