Day 13: Reptiles

If there was one thing Philippines would die for, it would be reptiles. The scales, the tongue flicks, the unblinking eyes. They were so cute! Other Countries usually avoided reptiles as best as they could. Thank Pangea that there were some that loves reptiles. Pangea, she wished Indonesia and Malaysia would love reptiles just like her.

"Come on sheila. You've been admiring the big beau right here for an hour. You know that there's more to see, right?" Australia said. Philippines was currently at the Island's zoo and was at the reptile house. She was surprised to see Australia wanting her to explore more.

"Sorry. But I really love this Burmese Python. Nevah has always had the most beautiful pattern and she always comes up to the glass whenever I come here."

"You are her favorite guest. But you really need to see the newest resident we have for the reptile house." Philippines looked over at him, stars in her eyes. Even if she was an even five foot, she stood on her toes and gave Australia no space. But that didn't phase him. He just smiled and said, "You want to see them?"

She nodded and followed Australia all the way to the newest exhibit. It was a big mini desert environment cage (about at tall as her and wide as a bookshelf) with dry branches and a small pool. It was almost unlike what she had never seen. "Oh my Pangea! This looks amazing! Who's this for?"

Australia chuckled before picking up a purple plastic box and pulling out his set of keys. She wasn't sure who he was putting in but she was excited to see what reptile was going to be introduced. The glass case slide opened and Australia set the box on the edge of the cage. He opened the box, reached into it, and grabbed what was inside. The moment he pulled the friend, Philippines couldn't help but stare. The reptile was a small brown lizard with yellow spots and stripes. There were slight bumps on its heads and its dark eyes pierced her soul.

It was beautiful.

"What kind of lizard is that?"

"This is the Guatemalan Beaded Lizard, a baby one too. The rarest and most endangered reptile in the world. Also a bit venomous. I was lucky to get one on this island. I almost had to put up a fight with UN to get this lovely girl here."

"Did you name her?" Australia shook his head before setting the lizard into the cage and closing the glass case. The lizard stood still for a good three seconds before walking deeper into the cage cautiously. Philippines smiled before saying, "She seems like a Bellatrix."

"Bellatrix?" Australia looked up, thinking about it, as he locked the glass case. "Hmm...she's a bit young but I'm sure she can live up to that name."

Philippines smiled and watched Bellatrix explore the cage. At one point, she looked over at Philippines, their eyes met. It lasted for five seconds before Bellatrix licked one of her eyes.

How cute!
