Day 28: Haunted/Paranormal
Russia had always been a bit scared of ghosts and supernatural creatures. His grandfather would tell him and his siblings stories about all the ghosts and monsters that would harm children and kidnap them. It would keep them from misbehaving but it had kept playing in Russia's head for so long. It got worse when he was given Alaska, afraid for her safety.
So why was he standing on a possible haunted house porch with Mexico?
"Мексика? Why are we doing this? This house is as old as Pangea." He said as Mexico knocked on the door. "And why are you knocking?! It's empty!"
"Texas came in here, even when I told him not to, and he left his cowboy hat. We just need to get it. And it's rude to barge in without checking who's here." Mexico said. He knocked one more time. Only to be met with the door completely falling down to the floor and a loud groan coming from the house. Russia felt a chill up his spine. They shouldn't go in. He had heard enough stories to know that this was an invitation to trouble.
"We shouldn't go in. Can you buy him an-"
"It was a gift from America." That was all he had to say. Russia knew that Mexico would not let a gift like that go. So he swallowed his fear and followed Mexico into the house. The wood groaned under their feet and Russia could have sworn that he could smell the dust. "Keep your eyes open for a brown cowboy hat."
Russia huffed and looked around. All he saw were multiple pieces of sheet-covered furniture and dust. With no lights, there was no way they were going to find this hat. It would take a miracle to find it.
A loud boom echoed into the room. Russia and Mexico jumped, turning their attention toward the direction of the sound. Standing right at the hallway door frame was a tall woman with green and brown skin with blue hair. She wore a beautiful long white dress that touched the floor and her eyes were as bright as lava. They couldn't determine who she was or where she was from. But she looked so beautiful.
"Oh! Lo siento! We thought there was no one living here! We didn't mean to trespass your home!" The woman shook her head and waved Mexico off.
"Please. Do not worry. I am just visiting this building. What is it that you are seeking?" She asked while holding the brown cowboy hat. Russia wasn't sure what her accent was but it sounded nothing like anything he had ever heard. Mexico quickly walked over to her and took it.
"Yes! My son came here yesterday and left his favorite hat here. It was a gift from his mother and he would be devastated if I don't find it."
"That is all. We will leave as soon as we find it." Russia said tensely.
"I see. A young boy was here and I believe I may have scared him. I believe I've seen that...hat...in the hallway." She leaned to her left and within seconds, she was holding a brown cowboy hat. The woman handed Mexico the hat, almost looking like she glided across the floor.
"Muchas gracias."
"Of course." She said before walking away. Russia and Mexico watched her walk right to a wall and walk right through it. They looked at each other with fear in their eyes before running straight out. Whoever this was, was not alive.
Well, they would never talk about it. Ever again.
