One Ring

Day 17: Ring

China hated this feeling. He hated how this cat and anime lover made him feel. He hated how she could make him so weak at the knees. He hated how she could hit all the right buttons. He hated it! Yet...yet...She made him feel so right. He loved how easy it is to talk to her about anything. He loved how no matter what she identified as, she would never judge him. He loved how she brought him out of his bubble.

He didn't know what he would do without her.

"China-kun? What's wrong? You're oddly quiet? Are you okay?" Japan asked, touching China's hand. Looking into her purple eyes, he just couldn't bring himself to lie to her. Maybe...it was time. His other hand went into his pocket to double check and just went for it.

"Look. I've been thinking..."

"That can't be good." Japan teased. China gave her an annoyed glare. He got a giggle from her before getting a dismissal wave. "Sorry, sorry. Please go on."

"I've been thinking...we've been spending a lot of time together. And..." Fuck! Why was this hard?! China cupped Japan's hand and placed his other hand on it. He took a deep breath and continued. "It felt like being on Cloud Nine when I'm with you. You know how to push all the right buttons. You always know how to make me feel so happy. I honestly didn't think I would feel so happy like this for so long."

Japan didn't say anything. Her face was shocked and flushed. Was he doing what she thought he was doing? Was this...

"I...I know our families have had a history but I honestly don't care. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. You make me happy." China could feel his body temperature rise. He can do this! It was time! He kneeled on one knee and pulled out the small box in his pocket. It opened to a ring, a beautiful band with an amethyst gem as a central piece. Japan's other hand went up to her mouth, covering it. He was! He was! "State of Japan, will you do me the honor of becoming my permanent partner?"

Happy tears streamed down her face. Japan couldn't believe it! China was proposing to her! No words could describe how she was feeling! China, however, might have misread her expression.

"I...I know I'm not the best Country. But I do want to make sure that you will have everything you will ever need. I have made mistakes, but I will be able to redeem myself if you give me the chance! Hell, I know some of your friends will not approve of this but-"

"China-kun," He looked up to see his lover smiling. Does she... "Yes. I do want this. Now shut up and kiss me."

China beamed with joy, quickly stood up, and brought Japan into a passionate kiss. He said 'thank you' and 'I love you' over and over again. This was it! This was his happy ending! Their happy ending!
