Jake's POV
-----

Well that was a nice wake up call. I mean, I was awake already before. But after the kiss Ashley oh so daringly gave me, I felt even more awake.

Like, awake awake.

Nevermind, I'm just rambling.

'Alpha Jake, it's Hudson. Your mum is waiting for you at the pack's meeting place. She said she wants you here. Pronto.'

I mentally groaned back and got off my chair shaking myself out of a slight daydream, 'Got it. Tell her I'll be there.'

I called Tyler over to the pack house to guard the girls not before taking off with Alex in the car. My mum might be one of members others go to when they have problems, still looking out after everyone even when she and dad stepped down, but she is still the scariest person I know. I don't exactly wish to have a face off with an awakening demon. That's instant suicide.

'So you drag me along to our possible deaths? Nice job Jake.' Alex growled but I knew he was joking.

'Quit reading my mind Alex.'

'You're the one that let me in moron.' He smirked and I just rolled my eyes. I think I'm gaining that habit from Ashley. She rolls her eyes so often I'm surprised it hasn't fallen out of its sockets.

'JAKE ALEXANDER COLLINS, YOU HAVE 3 MINUTES TO GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE!!' The devil has awakened. This is the end for earth. Goodbye cruel world, goodbye to all those tubs of ice cream I have left in my freezer. Goodbye to my precious princess--
Who am I kidding? No way I'm saying goodbye to her.

I might have scared some pack members on the way to the meeting house, but I'll tend to that later. I managed to shout an apology on my way. I just hope none of them will tattletale it to mum. Mother comes first.

I didn't even take one step into the meeting room when I was tackled with a hug from mother dearest. I swear, even after all those years, she has the strength of a top warrior. And that's saying something.

'Mum, you're hugging the life force out of me.' I say that but in honesty it didn't really hurt as much. She pulled away and her warm smile switched to an irritated frown as she flicked my forehead.

'Ow! What was that for? I made it in less than 4 minutes didn't I?' Her fierce look was removed and replaced with her usual loving smile and she chided me waving a finger in my face, 'I told you not to drive so fast before didn't I? I could hear the pack members screaming from all the way here!'

I only grinned sheepishly and my eyes scanned across the room to land on a familiar figure. The man I look up to my entire life.

'Hey Dad, it's been a while,' I held out my fist offering a fist bump.

'I see you've grown up. Hope you're no longer stealing Alex's toys,' he accepted the fist bump and pulled me in for a hug. I growled playfully and slapped his arm, 'Dad! That was years ago! I'm 21!'

I pulled away from him and Alex, who was behind me, greeted them with a handshake and a bone crushing hug from my mum. I saw him rub his shoulders in pain at the aftermath.

'Speaking of which. How come you never told us you found your mate Jake? You too Alex. I thought we were family.' We all sat down and my mum pulled out one of her "sweetest" smile, in our case, the smile of a crazed overlord mastermind.

'Well.. I-I was planning to tell you.. But,' I shot him a look for help.

'We wanted to surprise you with the news!'

'And you succeeded in surprising us.'

'Well.. Erm. Mission accomplished?'
I laughed nervously, there's no telling how my mum would react. She's unpredictable!
