Ship: Katsuki x Izuku,

---------------------------

Izuku was, undeniably, happy. He had friends, a great boyfriend (he still can't believe that Kacchan loves him-), and a beautiful dog named Goro. He was set in life. Until he wasn't.

"Midoriya-san, it seems you only have two to three months left." The man, Dr. Tanaka, spoke, leaning back in his chair slightly, dumping a bucket of ice water on Izuku metaphorically.

Oh.

He was dying.

Huh.

Izuku couldn't breathe. He knew he /was/ breathing, staring down at his hands quietly, but he didn't feel any air meet his lungs. His heart felt tight, a snake coiling around it, wrapping it in a thick muscular body and squeezing. He was on auto-pilot, thanking the doctor for his time, paying for his appointment, and driving home. The second the key was in the door, Izuku snapped back into reality, feeling the ice-cold dread fill his body once again.

Stepping into the apartment he and Katsuki live in, and closing the door behind him, he crumpled. His eyes were unseeing, tears pooling down his face, not hearing Goro's worried whines. Tears drizzle and splash onto the grey hardwood flooring. His mind trails back to the velvet box Katsuki stored away in a "hidden place" that Izuku had found cleaning.

Katsuki opens the door, head dipped down, not looking up, closing the door. Shucking his sneakers off, placing them carefully next to Izuku's, he looks up, seeing Izuku crumpled on the ground, legs spread against the floor, tears pooling down his face. Goro lays his head on Izuku's lap, whining. Katsuki rushed forward, grabbing Izuku, pulling the male into his chest, "Hey, hey, what's wrong?" Katsuki whispered as Izuku's head rolled to the side, laying on Katsuki's large shoulder.

Katsuki's heart stutters to a stop seeing that haunting look in Izuku's eyes, emerald eyes that glowed with something supernatural were dull, the bulb fizzling out behind them.

"Kacchan...'m dying..."

Katsuki's face paled, looking at Izuku. "Deku- Don't- Don't fucking joke around; what happened?" Katsuki asks, tone dripping with confusion and slight anger. Izuku shakes his head softly, "'M not lying..." Izuku whispers, the apartment completely silent. Goro looks equally as crushed; they both know Goro most likely can understand what was happening (They do suspect the dog has some type of higher intelligence quirk) looking at Izuku and Katsuki. "W-Wha-?"

Katsuki chokes as new tears flow from Izuku's eyes. "Doctor said I had two or three months," Izuku mumbles softly, slumping against Katsuki's chest. Katsuki doesn't speak a word, pulling Izuku and Goro close, tears flowing freely as the three sit in the hallway, hearts heavy.

"Hey, Tanaka-san?" A newbie receptionist called out to the man in the break room, Tanaka looking up at her. "Yes?"

The woman shuffles on her feet, looking nervous. "Uhm...I printed Midoriya's and Minori's paper's wrong..." The woman mumbles, staring at the ground."What do you mean...?" Tanaka asks, looking at the woman. "Uhm...I accidentally switched their results..?"

...

"WHAT?!"

"Ehe...I only realized just now..."

"SHIRO-SAN, IT'S BEEN A MONTH!"

"I'm sorry!" Shiro squeaks.

-

Katsuki and Izuku lay in bed, not caring of Izuku's buzzing phone, but Katsuki is finally fed up when his phone rings. Grinding his teeth, he stares at his lovely boyfriend, asleep. It had been a month since the diagnosis. Izuku looks worse for wear, the greenette hardly sleeping anymore, scared that one day he's not going to wake up. It terrifies him. Leaning back, Katsuki snatches his phone off the bedside table, glaring at the phone as it buzzes to life.

An unknown number. Grinding his teeth, Katsuki slams the green button with a little too much force, pulling the phone to his ear. Before he can get a word out, a man speaks, slightly frazzled. "Is this Bakugou Katsuki-san?!" The man squeaks, sounding frantic. "Hah?! This is he..." Katsuki grits out, looking at Izuku, who grumbles softly before stilling. "OH, THANK GOD! Bakugou-san, there seems to have been a... uh..mix-up at work! We have a new receptionist, and she had switched the results with someone who had a similar-sounding name. I apologize! Midoriya-san is in tip-top shape! Although his iron is a tad bit low..." The man speeds through quickly, thankfully growing up with Izuku mumbles 24/7 allows him to decipher it all. Katsuki sees fucking red.

"What?" Katsuki growls out low enough to sound like a rabid beast. The man on the other end seems hesitant. "What's her fucking name?" The blond hero hisses, running a hand through Izuku's curls when the apparently NOT dying male shifts. "Uhm..." The man hesitates, but Katsuki is too pissed to care.

"Name. Now."

"Shiro Aoi!" He squeaks.

Katsuki cuts the damn call.

-

A week later, Shiro Aoi is served to hell, put to rest in a metaphorical wood coffin. Katsuki takes Izuku out for dinner to celebrate the successful lawsuit, proposing like he wanted to do a month ago.
