I walk up the counter table and place my empty cup of coffee which I jugged down in one shot due to how cold it has turned.

Today has been such a hectic day at work, all my body muscles are sore like I ran a freaking marathon.

I just cannot wait to go home and be betrothed with my bed.

I closed my eyes trying to savour the silence that hugged the room and take my stuff hands to massage my temples.

My callously fingers felt so frozen as I tried to gently press my pain away.

As I took my coat off I heard a voice echo behind. I turned around and was met by my floor's receptionist Poly.

"Hi, Ms. Eliza how're you?"

I sent her a tiring smile "I am good how're you?"

"Good, but today was such a tiring day"

I nod at her before collecting my things  and she takes this a cue to speak further.

She hands me a card
"Actually, sorry to inform you last minute but the Yearly Ball is day after tomorrow and before you say anything, my excuse is that you were so busy that I forgot to tell you yesterday."

I give her a knowing smile before replying "Oh that's absolutely fine Poly, I just have to put on a dress and go, it's not like I have to give a presentation."

She gives out a shaky laugh before tuning her heel and leaves my cabin.

I open the fancy looking folder and see a card and a gift in the package.

The gift includes a very posh looking Arabian Attr because the organisers know that I do not wear perfume.

The thing about these event holders, is that they are so compassionate and affectionate that it leaves me in awe.

So every year an event is organised for healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses or pharmacists. sort of an acknowledgment for our services in the community.

I, personally think it is a great way of expressing gratitude because we deserve it in every means.

Like if you would ask me before? Than I would say that this job is by far the less tiring but let's be real it's not! But that does not mean that I do not love what I do.

We've chosen this and we have taken the oath to save lives not to cry over it. I feel like this is the best job on planet which lets you save lives along with get a pay to it.

I put my coat in the hanger and close my chamber to lock it. I walk down the aisle as many greet me and I greet them back but not matching their energy.

Going to my car, I unlock it and enter drivers side.
Just as I put my seatbelt on my phone rings. I take it out of my purse and see my brother's name flashing on screen.

"Hello"

"Hi sistah how're you? It's been so long since I hear your voice"

If you haven't guessed till now? Than for your ease my brother is British as in not by birth but he is holder of British passport.

"I am good, just a crazy long day at work! How're you and Jasmine thou?"

Jasmine is my sister in law and she is a cardiologist also surgery specialist.

"We are good, we planned on making a visit but Jasmine has some major upcoming surgeries so we are delaying it for now"

"Oh that's great news, can't wait to see you! Mom called the other day and was whining over how much she missed us both and all her kids are away from each other."

He laughs at my words and says "yeah she said that to me too."

We chat for a while as I hung up. And now I am driving to the grocery store to buy some snacks for Sera and I.

We both live together as we have busy jobs and it's hard to make time for each other so living together, atleast we see each other once in every while.

Sera is originally from Pakistan but just like me she is born and bought up here so she is American by birth.

______________

I bought the snacks and now I am headed home.

Driving alone really brings me peace as I can enjoy the silence and watch strangers for a second and then a blurry image followed by another.

I learnt driving at a young age and always boasted about it to my school friends. They were very different from me which is the reason I never really bonded with them.

Some were always jealous and making mean comments while some were fanning over my features.

I never enjoyed attention and never will. It is something so fake which makes you want to gain it so bad that you loose yourself in the end.

I reach my house at last after some serious slow driving in order to consume some more silence in my life.

I put the snacks on the kitchen counter and head back to my room.

Now, should I take a long shower or a short shower because I am pretty sure Sera will drag me to the saloon the next thing in the morning.

She has this thing where she has a spa day before any major events and she obviously has to drag me.

I have no problem being pampered but when I tell you that girl is extra I mean like Kylie Jenner extra!
I am not even exaggerating.

Like this one time she booked the entire spa for ourselves and the bill came out to be around 1500$
Like who does that? I don't mind paying but Sera being Sera obviously didn't let me pay.

After contemplating my choices I opt for a short bath.

I wash off the hospital scent off my body using a lavender fragrant body wash. And if you haven't guessed it yet? Yes lavender is my favourite smell.

I hop out the shower and dry my hair using a towel. As I put some skincare goods on my face I hear Sera singing loudly to some song I've never heard of.

I've already prayed so after putting some lotion on my body I head out to see what Sera is upto.

And my guess was right, she is cooking. This girl is so unpredictable I tell you. Like there was this one time she woke of midnight to make cookies.

"Ms.Sera what are you upto?"

She turns back with flour in her nose and cheeks and ew it's cute but not clean.

"Making cupcakes what else? And don't you dare make a disgusting face! I look cute okay"

"So you're telling me you purposely put flour in your face to be cute?"

She nods at me and I burst out laughing. Oh, oh my gosh I am out of breath. I hold the table for support as I laugh at her stupidness.

"Heyyy, stop" she flushed red in embarrassment and I stop myself but fail miserably.

"Okay okay fine, did you receive the invitation to the ball ?" I ask her and sneak a portion of the batter while she swats my hand away.

"Yeah, make sure to put on an alarm before sleeping. I've already booked us a spa!"

I give her a knowing nod and wait patiently as she bakes cupcakes.
