Emily walks away after leaving me in front of the door which I have no clue how to enter. Should I knock? Yeah I better knock or else what if I walk in between his personal space?
After taking a deep breath and giving myself a mental prep talk finally I knock on the door. Now what?
A couple of seconds pass by and I hear a gruff "come in" so without wasting any time my hands open the door to a similar room except with a colder environment.
He is busy typing in the laptop and I just stand there looking at anywhere but him.
"You know you can look at me right?" He said sarcasm dripping in his words. Well then he'll be forcing me to be like him too "yes, but I chose not to" I say with the same amount of smugness in my voice.
He gives a mocking expression before talking "I see you're back to yourself, that's good and please take a seat"
I look around to find a brown coach away from his table and go and sit there.
"So why did you call me?" I say while taking a look at my surroundings.
He takes a deep breath as if he is considering his choices about something and then looks at me in the eye almost making my heart skip a beat at his expressions but I controlled somehow.
"I am sorry" he says so low that if it weren't for me leaning in upwards I'd have never heard it.
Did he just.. say sorry? "What" I say in a broad tone to which he looks with lesser confidence then before.
"Look, I know I shouldn't have done what I did last night. I wasn't being myself and I have nothing to justify my actions but I know this that it was wrong of me to do so. I have abducted you for a deal but I have no right to cause any physical harm to you therefore I apologise for my actions"
Wow, did he memorise the words or something? Because it sure was convincing as heck.
Well well well aren't I in a twist of actions?
Before I can speak anything he opens the drawer and takes out a box wrapped in bronze gift wrapper.
"I thought you might like this so I got it for you. Check if it's alright" he hands me the box and I just stand there in awkwardness.
"Take it" he extends his hand further and keeps the box on the table. I get up from the couch and take the box as he ushers me to open it.
Nervously my fingers fiddle around the box as I remove the ribbon in one go and the wrapper opens to reveal a black box.
I open the top part and oh my god this is so sweet. Wait are kidnappers allowed to be this sweet?
The box opens to a silver antique design bottle and in bold Arabic letters is written the name of the Attr.
I love fragrances and this already looks divine. I open the lid and the entire room is filled with smell of fresh perfume.
Subhan Allah. This is one of the best gifts I've ever received and I love it already. I am sure my face already gave it away because I was grinning side to side like an idiot.
"I am guessing you like it?" He asked and I looked up to see him smiling too.
"Yes I did, thank you very much for going out of your way despite the circumstances we are in"
"It's no problem" he says lowly.
I was about to walk away but I stopped the moment I heard a loud thud across the window.
"What's happening?"
He switches the curtain off and we see a large chunk of ice on the window almost breaking the glass if it weren't for how thick it is.
"I think it's a snow storm" he pauses and takes his phone before looking at it for two minutes and then again continues "yes it's a snow storm, I am guessing it will last for couple of days as the weather update says the storm is longly awaited"
Oh no. I love snow but not snow storms. I hope everyone is safe, may Allah keep everyone safe and sound.
"Oh okay, should I go back to my room?"
"It's okay you can hang out in any room except my bedroom and I am sure Flo will keep you company"
I nod and head out as soon as I can and climb the stairs to my room.
Keeping my new gift on the dressing table I enter the washroom to take shower as I hear the afternoon prayer go off.
______
After praying I was lying down for a while when Emily approached me and said lunch is ready downstairs.
So now I am fixing my scarf to go. But tell me one thing, how normal is it to have lunch with the people who literally have kidnapped you? Like does it even make any sense?
I don't know because at this point sense is something which is way out of my league given my circumstances.
I descend down the stairs and the fresh smell of deliciously cooked food hits my nose. I go down further and find many cuisines, I can tell by the looks these are Mediterranean food.
Just as I take a seat Xavier comes and sits down on the opposite chair. His expression is again back to cold just like he was in the car, I didn't even bother looking twice.
"Where is Flo?" I ask and before he can reply Flo storms inside the room with a worried expression on her face.
"Did you hear?" She says to the both of us. We look at her in confusion as she continues "did you see the news?"
I shake my head as Xavier says "No"
She switches on the television and changes the channel to a news channel as a television host speaks
"We received our intel from the weather podcast that the entire North America will be facing severe snow storms for continuous one week or even more, the Supreme Court verdict is that the government has ordered for all the citizens to stay home with the necessities present if needed more? govern specialised staff will be providing but the distribution will start from the underprivileged to most privileged. For now it's been instructed to not step outside the houses due to high chance of injuries"
What now?
Before I can say anything Flo starts talking "we are stuck at home for a week or even more.. what do you plan about it Xavier?"
"What else? We start driving after the storm ends before that we'll stay home"
That means I have one week of freedom before him taking me wherever he made the deal.
"Flo, I'll be going to my office, join me after a while" she nods at him and I take this as my cue to leave.
"I'll go take a nap." I say shortly before climbing the stairs.
