Chapter Thirty Two - Rescue Exercises

After surviving the Crushing of UA, Morbius and the others waited in the starting arena for the other students to arrive. Soon enough, all of Class 1-A had advanced to the next stage of the Provisional License Exams. Soon enough, Mera spoke to the students.

Mera: The next test will be the last one. We will have you all perform rescue exercises as bystanders in this disaster site.

Kaminari/Mineta: Bystanders?

Toru: They're people who happen to be at the scene. We learned this in class, remember?

Yaoyorozu: It can also refer to ordinary citizens, though.

Mera: We will assume that those of you who have passed the first test have received your provisional licenses and test how well you can carry out suitable rescue procedures.

As Mera said this, a group of children and elderly people began entering the arena. Morbius was puzzled by this sight.

Morbius: What are children and elderly people doing here?

Mera: They are people who have undergone training to be professional people-in-need-of-rescue and are in high demand right now. The "Help Us Company," or "H.U.C." for short! The people from H.U.C. have dressed up as injured victims and are on standby throughout the disaster site. We will now have you all carry out their rescue. In addition, we will score your rescue based on points and if you have more points than the benchmark at the end of the exercises, then you pass. We will start in ten minutes.

With that, Morbius and the rest of Class 1-A prepared for the next round of the Provisional License Exams. In that time, Yaoyorozu spoke with Morbius.

Yaoyorozu: Good luck, Michael.

Morbius: Whatever happens out there, we will pass.

Yaoyorozu smiled as she hugged Morbius. Soon enough, the second round of the Provisional License Exams had begun. All students who had passed the first test begin spreading out throughout the disaster area to rescue the civilians. As Morbius uses his Vampiric Quirk to glide across the disaster area, he surveys his surroundings. He could see the students from the other schools performing exceptionally well, even more so than Class 1-A.

Morbius: It seems some of the other students have more training on rescue missions than us.

Morbius thought about how the USJ was originally meant to help train Class 1-A on how to conduct rescue missions in various different environments. The attack from the League of Villains interrupted that. Despite the disadvantage his class had, Morbius had every faith that his classmates would rise up to the challenge. He soon found himself approaching a crumbling building. Screaming could be heard from inside. Without hesitation, he rushes inside the building. As he did, it became clear that the building was on it's last legs. He soon sees a group of citizens trapped underneath some rubble.

Male Citizen: P...please! Help us! We're trapped!

Morbius: Do not fear. No harm shall come to you. You have my word. 

With that, Morbius used his Vampiric strength to remove the rubble. Once the rubble was cleared, Morbius helped the civilians up. 

Morbius: Follow me! I will lead you to safety!

As Morbius begins to escort the civilians to the entrance to the building, the entrance collapses. As this happened, parts of the ceiling began to break apart. Using his Vampiric speed, Morbius rushed to move the civilians out of the way. 

Elderly Citizen: Bonus points for decisive action in a high risk situation. 

Morbius maintained his focus as he surveyed his surroundings. Most of the exits had been blocked off. The only way out was the roof, but the ladder had been damaged. He could see a hole big enough for him to glide through. Thinking quickly, he spoke to the citizens. 

Morbius: Climb on my back! I'm going to get you all to the roof!

The citizens listened to Morbius's instructions and climbed on his back. He was able to carry all the citizens as he begins to glide up through the hole in the roof. Despite the large weight he was carrying, he was able to glide to the roof with the citizens. As they reached the rooftop, the building began to shake. Morbius looked down to see the Pro Hero Gang Orca and his sidekicks acting as Villains.

Morbius: Not good...

As Morbius says that, two of Gang Orca's sidekicks intercepted Morbius. The situation immediately became tense.

Gang Orca Sidekick: End of the line Hero! Any last words?

Morbius: If you wish to harm these people, then you're going to have to go through me!

Without hesitation, Morbius lunged at the sidekicks and attacked them. As he attacked them, Morbius turned to the citizens. 

Morbius: GO! Get to safety!

As the citizens began climbing down the fire escape, Morbius was able to quickly overpower the sidekicks. Once the sidekicks were taken down, Morbius regroups with the citizens and leads them to the safe area. This continued on until he was able to acquire the points needed to pass. Soon enough, the Provisional License Exams ended. Most of Class 1-A had passed the exams with the exception of Todoroki and Bakugo. Upon receiving their Hero Licenses, Yaoyorozu hugged Morbius. 

Yaoyorozu: We did it, Michael! 

Morbius: Yes, Momo. We did it. 

In that moment, Morbius and Yaoyorozu embraced one another. Their hard work had finally paid off. For Morbius, he felt that he was one step closer to becoming the Pro Hero that he knows that he can be. But Morbius knew that this was the only beginning.
