Chapter Forty Six - A Quiet Beginning

Months have passed since the Hero Work Studies resumed. During this time, Morbius and Yaoyorozu along with Setsuna continue to study under Majestic. One day, Morbius along with Yaoyorozu and Setsuna waited in Majestic's agency while he attended a meeting with several Pro Heroes. As they waited, Morbius was troubled. 

Yaoyorozu: Is something wrong, Michael?

Morbius: Yes. Despite all our efforts, it seems that Villain activity seems to have increased steadily. And with what happened at Deika City....

As Morbius said this, Yaoyorozu and Setsuna recalled seeing a news report on how Deika City was completely destroyed after a battle between the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Army. Since then, there had been reports that the League of Villains had been reorganized into the Paranormal Liberation Front. Since then, Pro Heroes have been on standby, preparing for the worst. Yaoyorozu and Setsuna could see that these recent developments troubled Morbius. 

Yaoyorozu: We're all doing what we can, Michael? 

Morbius: Momo, we've both seen what the League of Villains are capable of. And if they're getting stronger, then I fear we may not be ready. 

Setsuna: Do you really think the League would do something? 

Morbius: In the past, the League has made attacks on several UA facilities. And public faith in Heroes have gone down. 

As Morbius expressed his concern for the current state of things, Yaoyorozu grasped Morbius's arm. Morbius turned to his girlfriend and smile. 

Yaoyorozu: Whatever awaits for us, I know we'll be ready for it. 

Morbius smiled at Yaoyorozu's words. While Morbius's fears remained, he couldn't help but find comfort in her words. Soon enough, Majestic returned. 

Yaoyorozu: Welcome back, Majestic. How was the meeting?

Majestic: Gear up, everyone. We have a mission. 

Morbius: What kind of mission? 

Majestic: We've just received reports that the that the commanders of the Paranormal Liberation Front are all assembled at the Gunga Mountain Villa. A large task force of Heroes have been assembled for this mission. 

Upon hearing this, Morbius along with Yaoyorozu and Setsuna were stunned. Morbius could see that this attack could end in either a stunning victory for Heroes or in total disaster. 

Morbius: If all the commanders are at this Villa, then they'll be well defended. 

Majestic: Which is why we have two teams prepared for this assault. The main team will assault the Villa and capture as many of them as possible. If we can capture all the leaders, then we can eliminate the Paranormal Liberation Front before it was a chance to grow into a grave danger. Morbius. You will join me in the main assault. 

Morbius was taken aback by this. 

Morbius: Do you really trust me to help you and the other Pros in such a task? 

Majestic: Of course I do. You have proven yourself more than capable. Your Quirk's versatility will be most useful in the assault. Yaoyorozu and Setsuna, you two will be part of the Backup Team. Your job is to provide backup should any Villains escape us. 

As Majestic says this, Morbius becomes worried for Yaoyorozu. While Yaoyorozu would realistically be safer than him, the idea that any of the PLF's commanders could escape and encounter Yaoyorozu and the others deeply concerned him. 

Morbius: Perhaps...perhaps I could be placed in the Backup Team. 

Majestic: I'm sorry, but you are needed at the frontlines. Your Quirk's versatility could allow us to deal the decapitation strike to the Paranormal Liberation Front. 

Morbius paused at this. He wanted nothing more than to remain at Yaoyorozu's side. But it was clear that he was needed elsewhere. Seeing the look of concern in her boyfriend's eyes, Yaoyorozu approached Morbius. 

Yaoyorozu: It's okay, Michael. I'll be fine. The Pros need you more than I do. If all goes well, then we shouldn't have to worry about encountering any Villains. 

Morbius: I....I know, but....

Yaoyorozu placed her hand on Morbius's face. She then kisses his cheek. In that moment, Morbius's mind fell back to the words he said on the night after the battle between All Might and All For One. 

Yaoyorozu(Past): Promise me that you'll always be by my side, Michael. Promise me that you'll never leave....

Morbius(Past): I will honor that promise to the best of my ability. But I will honor my promise to protect you no matter what.

Yaoyorozu(Past): That's.... that's all I can ask for, Michael Morbius. 

As Morbius thinks back on that day, he couldn't help but worry about Yaoyorozu's safety. She was too precious to him. But at the same time, he knew that this mission required both of them. For the sake of the mission, Morbius put his own personal feelings aside. 

Morbius: I understand what I must do. 

Majestic: This mission won't be easy. I won't lie. There's a good chance that a lot of us aren't going to come back. But this may be our best chance to end the Villain threat once and for all. I have no doubt that you will all rise up to the task. I have faith in you all. It's time.

With that, Majestic along with Morbius, Yaoyorozu and Setsuna prepared for the mission. Before they split up, Morbius and Yaoyorozu took one last look at another, not knowing whether it would be the last time they would see one another. Despite this, both knew the importance of the mission at hand. With that, Yaoyorozu and Setsuna joined the Backup Team while Morbius joined Majestic with the Main Raid Team. But what no one realized was that this mission would forever change the course of Hero Society.
