Chapter Seven - The Sports Festival

On the day of the UA Sports Festival, Morbius and the rest of Class 1-A waited in the locker rooms. Morbius sat next to Yaoyorozu while holding her hand. Yaoyorozu could tell that he was nervous. 

Yaoyorozu: Are you okay Michael?

Morbius: Y....yes Momo. I'm just nervous, that's all. 

With a warm smile on her face, Yaoyorozu kissed Morbius's cheek as a means of comforting him. She tightly gripped his hand. 

Yaoyorozu: Don't worry about it Michael. You're going to do great today!

Morbius couldn't help but smile at Yaoyorozu's kindness. They soon witnessed Todoroki declaring his own war against Midoriya. Before the two could question it, the class was called to the stands. As they walked to the stands, the class were welcomed by a cheering crowd. 

Kaminari: Man I could get used to this!

Morbius kept himself reserved at this. He didn't like all those eyes staring at him. Yaoyorozu kept hold of his hand to comfort him. Eventually, Class 1-A made it in front of the stage with the other classes. Standing on the stage was Midnight as she made an announcement. 

Midnight: For the student pledge, we have KATSUKI BAKUGO OF CLASS 1-A!

Bakugo then began making his way to the stage. Everyone was anticipating what he would say. Morbius didn't have too high hopes about it considering that it was Bakugo. Bakugo then taps on the microphone. 

Bakugo: I just want to say.....I'm gonna win. 

Upon hearing that, Class 1-A was completely mortified with the exception of Morbius who simply sighed. Boos from the other classes began to erupt. Soon, the Sports Festival began. As the classes began to prepare for the first event, Morbius was confronted by Monoma. 

Monoma: Look who has arrived! The Monster of Class 1-A! Did you kill anybody today?

Morbius: I see your ignorance has remained unchanged.

Monoma: Bold words coming from you! I knew Class 1-A had low standards, but they must be scrapping the bottom of the barrel if they let you in!

Morbius tried to ignore Monoma's insult towards him. At that point, Yaoyorozu had enough of the constant insults. 

Yaoyorozu: Michael is no monster! He is as much of a Hero as any of us! I will not stand by and let you insult him! His Quirk doesn't make him a monster and if you think so, then you have no business in being a Hero! 

As Yaoyorozu rushed to defend Morbius, Monoma was initially taken aback by her defense of Morbius. Morbius himself couldn't help but smile. 

Yaoyorozu: I've known Michael all my life! He is not a monster! If anything, he's the furthest thing from one! 

As Yaoyorozu  continued to defend Morbius, Morbius placed his hand on her shoulder. 

Morbius: Thank you Momo. You do not need fight my battles. 

Yaoyorozu: But Michael.....

Morbius: There are battles that I must fight. Battles that only I can fight. I have faced those like Monoma all my life. One more insult will not bring me down. 

Yaoyorozu then calmed herself down as the students prepared for the first event of the Sports Festival. It would be a three part obstacle course. Everyone is jam packed against a doorway. As everyone rushed out, Todoroki used his Ice Quirk to freeze most of the students where they stood. Morbius along with Yaoyorozu, Bakugo, Kirishima and a few others manage to avoid the attack. 

Morbius: (Clever move Shoto!) 

Morbius began gliding through the air. As he did, he felt free. He remembered having to glide away from angry mobs as a child. But now, he was no longer burdened with that weight. He looked down to see Yaoyorozu and the others in a close race. 

Morbius: (Momo.....was this just like we met? When you saw me glide all those years ago? Heh. Never have I felt so free! Thank you Momo. Thank you.....)

Morbius couldn't help but let out a cheer as he flew free in the sky. Yaoyorozu looked up and smiled at Morbius. Soon, the obstacle race was tight. Through all three parts, Morbius was able to get through most of course with little effort. Eventually, he finished the race in 16th place behind Yaoyorozu. When the race was over, Yaoyorozu ran up to Morbius and hugged him. 

Yaoyorozu: That was amazing Michael! Congratulations!

Morbius: I felt....free. For the first time in years, I felt free! It was like a great weight was lifted from my shoulders!

Yaoyorozu warmly smiled as Morbius described the feeling he felt as he glided through the skies. In that moment, he shed a single tear of joy. She was on the verge of crying until Morbius placed his hand on her cheek. 

Morbius: Momo, we've come a long way since we met in that alleyway. I could never have imagined that my life would ever be this point. 

Yaoyorozu: You deserve this Michael. No matter what anybody says, you have what it takes to be a great Hero.

Morbius warmly smiled at his girlfriend. He truly felt that it was because of her that he's even here in the first place. In that moment, he smiled. 

Morbius: Let us focus Momo. We still have a long ways to go. The Sports Festival is still upon us. I imagine there is more in store for us. 

Yaoyorozu: Right!

As the first event of the Sports Festival concluded, both Morbius and Yaoyorozu along with the rest of the UA students would advance to the next event.
